Now what about the rest of the world?

The wait is over: Persona 5 finally has a release date. After a lengthy countdown, which kicked off back on April 22nd, developer Atlus has revealed that the role playing game will be launching on September 15th in Japan, though it's unclear when the game will be launching in the rest of the world. The game was originally scheduled for last year, but was delayed in September. It'll be coming to both the PS3 and PS4.

While not a household name, the Persona series has become a true cult classic thanks to its unique and charming blend of traditional RPG elements and what's perhaps best described as a high school life sim. By day, the characters spend time in class, hanging out with friends and worrying about grades, while nights are filled with exploring treacherous dungeons and generally saving the world. Persona 5 looks to continue this trend, while adding its own style. It stars young students who can enter paintings to explore new worlds, and unlike past games, it takes place in a bustling Tokyo, instead of a small town.

When it does launch, Persona 5 will be up against some stiff competition, as 2016 is shaping up to be a great year for Japanese RPGs. Final Fantasy XV, the most anticipated game in the series in years, will be launching on September 30th, while a new Pokemon is also on the way, along with the next entry in the Star Ocean series, to name just a few.
