Moto G leaks suggest 4th generation phone will have updated camera, NFC

Yesterday, Motorola took to its Twitter account to tease what is largely expected to be the next generation of the Moto G, a "budget" smartphone that has consistently beat expectations. Today we might have gotten a little more insight into what exactly the fourth-generation Moto G will include.

According to a components chart released on Twitter by blogger Roland Quandt, the new phone will reportedly come in two variants (not unlike last year's Moto G and Moto G Turbo); will offer either 2 gigabytes of 3GB of RAM; come with 16GB or 32GB of storage, presumably with a microSD slot for expansion; and will have a 13-megapixel or 16-megapixel rear camera updated with "laser focus", and a 5-megapixel front camera.

"NFC" also appears in the leaked spec sheet, which might make this the first Moto G to have the near-field chip. The new phone is also expected to have a fingerprint scanner, since a Lenovo executive said earlier this year that all Motorola-branded phones would have fingerprint scanners in 2016.

The new Moto G is likely to be unveiled at press conference on May 17 in India (which underscores the growing importance of India to smartphone makers). Lenovo, which owns Motorola, is also having a press event in the U.S. in June, but it's unclear yet what will be showcased then.
