According to a comparison of the online profiles of 12 million Facebook users in California with public vital records, accepting,
but not initiating, online friendship requests was associated with reduced mortality risk, as were posting and being tagged
in photos, which are activities indicative of offline social interaction; further, for online-only communication channels,
such as text posts and messages, moderate activity levels were associated with low mortality risk.
