Issue 4925: Feature request: High resolution tile images for KmlLayer and FusionTablesLayer

Reported by [email protected], Feb 13, 2013
When using KmlLayer and FusionTablesLayer on mobile devices with high pixel density (like Apple retina screen or Samsung Galaxy S3) the map base layer is rendered sharply with the correct image resolution but features on KmlLayer and FusionTablesLayer are always blurry, due to being served with low resolution images from Google's server. This results in an unsatisfactory UX for mobile map users and forces developer to setup their own tile servers and, ultimately, resorted to using other map APIs.

(Because frankly, we choose Google Maps API because its low overhead. If we have to go to the trouble of setting up the tile server, then that's one reason less for using Google Maps).

Therefore, adding high-res service for KmlLayer and FusionTablesLayer and serve them along accordingly with hi-res base layer when requested, would be a great improvement for mobile users experience (which is a vital market for map application).
