What are you selling in search, really?
...an offering to serve, or serving an honor?

If not for behavior modified by intent, guiding the idea and the act, what? What is the will and what is the result?

No fooling around, you gotta advertise and feed, and that means being found in search, local search if local sales matter, as they do to the real hay-makers, of all real goods, not half baked. Folks may get queued and clue in to any good offering, in many ways, but these days they are going to research in a search engine, not found they are found moving on, leaving yours in place!

Search engines look for real stuff to bring to real people,  how does your stuff look in search, really?  If it is not becoming to you, they won't be coming to you.  Solution; offer more real stuff  to the crawlers and bots and get found and how?

Many folks helping people, just ask.
Good day and best regards. :)

...and not those ones overlooked, that were trying to be found for sure, folks really should be able to try some hot ones(all of them), offered up on an idling search engine! ;)

DigitalGov Search Basics Workshop March 30

Non-government attendees must be under current contract with a governmental agency. Even if this does not apply to you, just glancing at what the workshop covers points out some tools that those in the profession must familiarize themselves with - namely search and curation.

One topic of the workshop describes, "Including content in your search: defining domains to search; refining results through Collections; curating results through Best Bets, pulling in social media content – blogs, photos, videos, and more!"

What Does Google's Immersive Search Experience Look Like via the Mobile Pack Results? by +Mike Blumenthal

This new "immersive" experience is great for searchers... but what do you think of it from an SEO perspective? Do you think it is helpful or hurtful for small businesses and other websites? We would love to hear your thoughts!

How People View Search Results

We’re here to say that the F-pattern is no more. The evolution of search engine results pages has caused a similar evolution in user behavior patterns. The strict F-pattern style we saw before is, quite frankly, outdated

I think this is a bit of a reach given the set of data used and the fact that the structure of a SERP can vary dramatically between queries. The F-Pattern is really part of our general style of reading and is broken when other elements on the page catch our attention during scanning.

Clearly the number of elements has gone up dramatically. But if you were to find the queries where that wasn't the case I think you'd likely see the F-Pattern emerge. Not only that but there are likely micro F-Patterns where we fixate on a SERP element and engage in F-Pattern like behavior there.

So, yes, because the SERP has changed structurally we don't see many traditional F-Patterns but I think it would be unwise to write off this behavior altogether.

Google Image Search launches colored filter buttons

"After testing various combinations, Google has launched new filter buttons in the image search results.

Earlier, Google tested adding filter buttons in various colors in image search, and now, Google has launched it to all searchers.

If you go to Google Image Search and search for any query, you should see a carousel of colored buttons across the top of the search results page. Clicking on those buttons will filter the images by your selection. The filters can be colors, can be categories and so on..."

We really miss the images in the search results, don't you? Perhaps there is still hope that one day, they will come back.

Google "killed off" authorship in 2014; however, in October 2015 Google said you should keep authorship markup on your site if you haven't removed it yet. And, apparently, Google's Gary Illyes reiterated that just the other week at SMX West. He said on stage if you have authorship on your pages already, leave it. He is aware of at least one team at Google looking at ways to use it.

We have our fingers crossed.
