Each year Journal of Cell Science awards a $1000 prize to the first author of the paper that is judged by the Editors and Editorial Advisory Board to be the most outstanding publication in the journal that year. For the paper to be eligible for consideration, the first author must have been a student or a postdoc of no more than five years' standing when the work was done.
