Editing Embryo DNA Deemed Permissible
An inquiry into the ethical issues surrounding genetically altering a human embryo has found there is "no absolute reason not to pursue it".

Watch him trembling with fear at the coupon wielding woman as he calls 911 for the second time. (The first time they hung up on him). A fine job of acting.

Canada is taking kids from families to protect them from poverty.
British Columbia officials are taking kids from their families. These are not immigrant kids. They are disproportionately kids from 1st Nation families. The parent's crime? Being poor. Apparently being unable to thrive under the current economic system is deemed to be child neglect.

Obviously, being poor can make it difficult to properly feed, clothe and house a child. Rather than assisting the poor family, the B.C.’s Ministry of Children and Family Development removes the children from the home, in the guise of helping them.

Look at the "help" one child received.

This boy who was removed "from his family lived in 17 different foster placements under the watch of 23 different social workers and caregivers over an 11 year period. His final placement: being kept in a hotel room: a practice that was employed on a regular basis, due to the number of children in B.C.’s child protection system and the difficulty in finding suitable foster families. Unsupervised and suffering from a number of mental health issues, he jumped from his hotel window, to his death. In a feature published this week by The Globe & Mail, it was revealed, that this teen, Alex Gervais, was being “sporadically” checked in on by a caregiver paid $8,000 a month."

The province is 'paying strangers to provide inadequate care of children removed from their families, when neglect was cited as a reason for removal in the first place."

This needs to stop. Families belong together.

AIDs funding diverted to pay for child separations
The budget of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is maxed out due to the unexpected influx of children in their custody who have been separated from their families. The ORR is now being funded in part by reallocating money from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program.

The program "provides a comprehensive system of care that includes primary medical care and essential support services for people living with HIV who are uninsured or underinsured.”

The program is named in honor of Ryan White, an Indiana teenager who contracted AIDS through a tainted hemophilia treatment. White was a tireless advocate for AIDS research and awareness until his death in 1990.

V.P. Mike Pence should be pleased with the current diversion of Ryan White Care Act funds. A 2016 New York Times article [1] pointed out that during Pence's 2000 congressional campaign, he advocated spending Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program funds on conversion therapy.. As Pence stated on his website at the time, "Resources should be directed toward those institutions which provide assistance to those seeking to change their sexual behavior."

Conversion therapy has been condemned by a range of groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association, which said it was based on the view that homosexuality is a disorder, an idea “that has been rejected by all the major mental health professions.”

The practice of child separation has also been condemned, but ORR is planning for more children to come into it's custody. That will paid for, in part, by diverting even more funds from the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Can an agency do two reprehensible things at once? Apparently so.

Praise Jesus, Allah or Buddhist Meditation?
The entire Thai soccer team and their coach who had been stuck in a flooded cave have been freed after a daring rescue. A British missionary serving in the country sees God's hand at work. "Somehow we'll be able to use this as a launch off point in discussing with other Thai people the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Yet only 1% of the Thai people identify as Christian while 4.6% identify as Muslim. Perhaps it was Allah that helped rescue the boys.

However, 94.6% of the Thai people identify as Buddhist. And unlike Christianity or Islam, Buddhism.has no known Absolute Creator God that serves as humankind's benefactor and punisher.

I give the bulk of the credit for the rescue to the Thai Navy SEALS who conducted the operation. But when rescue divers first arrived at the cave where the team was trapped, the boys were not on their knees praying to Jesus or prostrating themselves toward Mecca. They were meditating. Their coach, a former Buddhist monk, taught the boys the practice to help them stay alive.

So, other than the SEALS, who or what helped the boys? Jesus? Allah? Buddhist meditation? I'd be curious to hear from the boys themselves and not some opportunistic colonialist Christian.
