Back from the Dead

First of all, I'm not gonna lie and say that I know the species of the plant that developed this flower because I have no clue. Based on the look of its leaves I can make an educated guess that it's a grass of some sort. But anyway...

The reason this flower excites me is because this plant lives in a pot in front of my home and for a couple months it appeared to be a dead pile of leaves. Then, ironically enough, the day I was going to remove it from the pot and recycle it I noticed that there were little green nubs growing. I had assumed (wrongly) for a month or so that the plant was dead, but in fact it was perfectly fine and grew back stronger than it was before. This is the first bloom it had since its rebirth.

If anyone actually read this far along in this story then I applaud you. 👏

Spanish Bayonet up close

This may look cool, but these plants are gnarly! I've fallen into one or two of these when I used to mountain bike all the time and all I can say is that is was far from a pleasant experience. 😄

This is a real picture and that is a real baby hummingbird! I love hummingbirds and have to say that I never thought I'd see something like this ever happen.

One of the guys I work with found this little guy (or girl) just sitting in the parking lot. It is clearly a fledgling because of it's rather thick coat of down feathers. My thought is that he (or she) flew away from the nest and got tired so it just landed in the parking lot. Not knowing really what to do, my colleague picked it up to prevent it getting run over.

It rested happily in our office for a little while then start stirring so we took it outside and he (or she) flew off. It seemed perfectly healthy, which is why I believe it was just exhausted. Such a cool thing to happen!

Came across this on one of my strolls in the foothills recently and thought it was kinda cool. The Sun & Moon juxtaposed. #canonphotography #nature #art

I'm a sucker for thicketed areas, such as this bamboo forest. Looking up to the sky in an environment like this is disorienting, but in a good way. For me, it instills the feeling that I am in the wild and detached from urban life for a brief moment. I'm actively trying to experience this feeling more and more often. 😄#canon #nature #photooftheday #bamboo #california
