"Antares Rising"
Lots of clouds and rain recently so managed to go back and do some processing of older photos. This image is taken from Lake Campion back in April 2018 and features a lone figure standing upon the empty salt lake staring up at the Antares / Rho Ophicuhi nebula as its rises above the horizon. The core of the galaxy is not yet visible, just starting to peak behind the skyglow of a nearby town.
I used an iOptron sky tracking mount to take this 1 x 4 panel mosaic. A Canon EOS6d (modified) was used through a Canon 85mm f/1.2 lens stopped down to f/3.2. All camera and lens settings were kept the same for all panels, and all shots were taken one immediately after the other. The iOptron tracking mount was used for the sky and turned off for the foreground panels. Stitching in PTGui, colour balance in Pixinsight, noise reduction, saturation and some brightness / contrast adjustment in Photoshop. Details below.

"Tea at the Edge of the Galaxy"
On a ridge that skirts the western edge of Lake Campion, Western Australia - we stop at the end of our astrophotography session to have some tea and sit under the stars and watch the galaxy as it arches overhead.
I had left this image for a while since it was quite dark and I used no illumination to light up the foreground, meaning that when I processed it I'd find it difficult to get any detail without showing alot of noise. This is the best I could do. Also an admission, there is a small part of the left edge two thirds of the way up where I had to "patch-up" due to a slip in my iOptron sky tracker. Doesn't really have any affect on the image, but I detest altering images in any such way.

The green vine snake (Ahaetulla nasuta) is a slender green tree snake found in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. The reptile normally feeds on frogs and lizards using its binocular vision to hunt.
