Hi all, my day is not starting out so great so I needed something to cheer me up. Sunflowers seem to do that, therefore the collection name. :-) These are 2 that I had grown this summer that bloomed quite nicely. Usually the insects get to them and eat the stems in half so the flower heads die. Drives me crazy because they don't do that to the volunteer ones. Anyway, hope you enjoy them and have a good day!

Hey all! I have a feeling it's going to be a long hard week so thought I would start it off with a happy shot. These are some wild Sunflowers that were growing near where I live. The weather must have been perfect for them because they were quite numerous and blooming everywhere this year. They are the Kansas state flower too. We were having a rainy week when I shot these so that made for a dramatic sky background. Hope you enjoy them and have a great day and start to your week!

So I may not have a planted Sunflower field around me but the wild Sunflowers have really been blooming like crazy recently. I took this image this past week of a really big group of them against the stormy sky we had been experiencing most of the week. There are several varieties of Sunflowers and these, I believe, are Plains Sunflowers. Hope you enjoy the image and have a great day!

Hi all!  I was shooting a Sunflower field that a friend told me about.  It was a bit past it's prime but I found some life in it still.  I was shooting this Sunflower that was starting to droop and caught these 2 Cabbage White Butterflies in motion above it.  I was amazed to see when I was looking at the photos later that I caught them and that they were in focus as well!  Lucky shot!  Hope you enjoy the image and have a great day!  Fall has arrived here, we are supposed to only be in the 60s with lows in the 40s.  What a difference!
