After waking up to more spam on my posts - and spam directed at real people kind enough to genuinely comment on my posts I've had to limit my settings to who can comment to extended circles. If that doesn't help they'll be shut off completely.
I hate doing this as I get comments from people who I have no obvious connection to. I'm sorry to have todo this. If you find yourself unable to comment, you can always do so on my website where I can filter spam before it is visible to everyone else.

I'm breaking my lurker status here to post this. It's something very important to me, and hopefully you as well. Especially if you live in the U.S.
#NetNeutrality should be important to us all to help ensure we have access to all points of view without being throttled, blocked or forced to pay a premium. Likewise if we are content providers we shouldn't be help ransom to have our sites delivered at the same speed as others. In the last couple decades the internet has gone from a medium barely used outside of academia and government to a tool essential to conducting business, applying for jobs, personal communication, education, and yes, playing games. It SHOULD be treated like a utility - that is what it has become. It's every bit as important as water and electricity.

I need help from my Scandinavian friends! I've been looking for a good recipe for Norwegian Flatbrød. We used to get a box mix that had several kinds of flour ( I think oat, barley and wheat ). I have tried oodles of recipes on the internet and none of them taste quite right. Unfortunately the company that makes the mix has gone out of business, and the last box was thrown away :(

Yep. This. Algorithms by all companies seem to be less and less relevant to what I want to see. Even when I specifically say I want to see "X" in my stream, search results, etc. I keep getting shown "Y" only to find "X" buried somewhere.
The other problem - more so in Social Media feeds than in Search/email results is that algorithms seem to think if I like/plus/heart a post about something, say cows, that it means I want to be buried under an avalanche of cows. Now I DO like cows, but I also like fish, pigs, trees, tomatoes, grains, stars, and a gazillion other things. Algorithms seem hell bent on compartmentalizing us.
The other danger is I see more and more of my friends stuck in their own little echo chambers. This only leads to more and more misunderstandings (deliberate and unintentional). And quite frankly flat out ignorance as to other people's motives and real desires. To amend what Yoda so wisely stated -
"Ignorance leads to fear. Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."ďťż
