MeWe. Definitely. Not perfect, but feels like home.
Some Google Plus users begin migrating to the MeWe social media platform
I've only been using MeWe for about two days now but am quite liking it from a functionality point of view as well as its very user-friendly interface and pretty good Android/iOS apps.
What I am liking is its Groups that have a lot of configurability, and with the right settings your Groups there can mimic Google+ Collections. It's got good controls over notifications, and it also has masses of open Groups on lots of diverse topics. One difference with MeWe's Groups is that a post to the group does NOT appear in your Profile stream like on G+ with Collections. This can be positive or negative depending on how you look at it - your Profile feed can be followed for purely non-Group posts, but in this way, there is no "single feed" to follow all your posts (think pushing your feed out to another service like say Twitter). Of course for those posting everything on their Profile feed only this makes no difference.
So although I will be posting there now (my profile is at https://mewe.com/i/danie.van_der_merwe) I'll still do my main posting from Google+ for a while. The main reason being MeWe's posts are not yet open public posts (you have to register for free to see posts). But some changes and improvements are coming to MeWe that will open this up and also bring other improvements that G+ users have been asking for - watch the video with MeWe's Product Manager at https://youtu.be/Jzf_mcgjo_0. This is encouraging as MeWe is keen to make improvements so I'm not judging it by what I only see today.
On the downside it is a pity it is not federated (but I get that many users actually want a single site where all their contacts and groups are), or open source, as this would provide assurance against it just being shut down in future. That said a saving grace is Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who is on their advisory board, and who is busy with a big drive to get social media platforms more open. To be honest the majority of social media users probably find the federated approach confusing, especially when they want to just find their friends. So I'm guessing that many G+ users will still find their way to MeWe!
Other alternatives that G+ users are moving to (or that there is a bit of mention about) are:
- Pluspora
- Mastodon (more Twitter-like)
- Minds.com
MeWe still offers the richest functionality in a good looking and modern looking UI.

Early thoughts on Google+ users moving to Pluspora and MeWe social networks (they're not going to Facebook I hear)
I see a lot of users already gravitating towards these two networks. Both are built on excellent principles based on preserving privacy, no selling users data, being free to use, no adverts, no spyware, etc. To be honest, I can't dive into either fully yet, mostly because I need to replicate my posts across a few networks and my RSS feed and believe it or not, this is one thing that neither of these two do! But let me just highlight a few observations that clarify where they are different too:
MeWe:
1. The prettier of the two with a better mobile app.
2. Has more of a Facebook feel but without all the clutter, privacy issues, etc of Facebook.
3. Strong statements around privacy and has Sir Tim Berners-Lee on their advisory board.
4. Centrally run so all contacts, posts etc on one server. Does mean if that closes down it all dies.
5. 8GB of free cloud storage for posted photos, files, videos, etc.
6. Has chats, voting polls, events, hashtags, group discussions (with quite a few for ex-Google+ users). A Group would be like a Google+ Community.
7. There are a lot of diverse group most with 100's of users but I see quite a few with over 1,000 users.
8. Regarding Google+ Collections I see their Groups can be created as Public access but can also choose to allow followers to post, limited post with approval, or comment/chat only. This is very interesting as it is very much like Collections. If I could push my posts out from here this could be my new home! For example here is a link to my Green Tech Group at https://mewe.com/join/green_tech and my main profile at www.mewe.com/i/danie.van_der_merwe does not show the "Collection/Group" posts.
9. Looks most similar to Google+.
10. Don't see any way of pushing your posts out elsewhere from here, or any way to import posts from RSS, Twitter or another service = walled garden.
11. Has photo albums.
Pluspora:

2. Slightly older interface than MeWe but a solid service that has been running for years.
3. Also strong on privacy but it consists of many decentralised hubs/pods, each of which can operate on its own having its own set of rules, but where users can follow users on other pods or even on services like Friendica, Hubzilla, etc. It's a federated approach where you live on one pod but follow anyone anywhere else. There is no mother ship that can die and kill off the service.
4. It is, therefore, a bit more difficult to find people on other pods.
5. It can export account data but I still don't see a way of importing it elsewhere (unlike Friendica that will let you literally move to another pod).
6. Diaspora is the name of the federated service with Pluspora being created as a pod for ex-Plussers I gather.
7. Diaspora/Pluspora has photos but not in albums.
8. No events, but it has hashtags and voting polls.
9. It does have an Atom RSS feed that people can use to follow your posts from outside Diaspora eg. mine at https://diasp.org/public/danie.atom.
10. For each post (if you have linked your Twitter and/or Tumblr profiles) you can click to also share the pot out to those social networks.
11. It has Aspects that you can create and for each post you can select what aspects it will be visible in (one, many or all where Google+ only had one). But either no-one is using Aspects or I'm not seeing how to just see someone else's aspects in my feed.
Whilst Diaspora/Pluspora at least follows a federated model its interface and features are behind MeWe, but honestly both need to open up more on allowing external follows, and being able to follow some other external networks too. Diaspora/Pluspora does at least have an RSS feed so you can post there and use RSS to replicate elsewhere. For many though MeWe may be the slightly better choice right now depending on what you want to use and connect with.

A couple more ideas to explore as replacements for G+. Didn't have a chance to check them myself.
Mastodon doesn't look like a replacement for Google+, more like a Tweeter replacement, as of now.
I guess the picture will clear over the next few weeks/months - hopefully a reasonable replacement will show up.

general, but that streamer is amazing. They also keep it up to date - only recently it was updated to Android TV 8. One of the features I love most is the simple, clean remote - not one key more than what I need. Easy to remember and operate even in a dark room.
Now the 'S' edition comes out, and the remote seems a big step backward. The only reason I guess for placing a 'Netflix' button - is probably some commercial agreement between Netflix and Xiaomi. I don't like this business practice.
Seems like I'll be using my Mi Boxes for as long as they will be functional, and then I will be looking for another vendor for my future needs.

With G+ shutting down in 10 months, it's the perfect time for Mastodon to rise above being a Twitter clone. Ask G+ users what they liked, why they stuck with it. Build better tools into Mastodon to accept the migrants. And of course demonstrate why federated platforms can be a better design.
