But sometimes, when being trapped, the dog (or rather a cat) escapes. With "behaviour trees" you can simulate such behaviour on e.g. a game canvas/grid. It allows you to manage "context", "rules", "conditions", "pre trained patterns", which all lead to "complex behaviour".
Like psychological profiles can predict certain behaviour. E.g. that of Putin with Crimea after the U.S. Ukraine coup and ethnical cleansing against russians in eastern Ukraine. With these behavioural trees you can emulate that!

In functional languages, the 'return value' always is a function!
Same you can do with Python. It's a self reflecting language, can change its own syntax, e.g. with decorators. Isn't that just wonderful?
