Weekly Writing Challenges
Welcome to the YeahWrite archives. Below, you’ll find all of our daily posts. We kick off our week on Sundays with the (what else) weekly kickoff post. Our nonfiction grid and fiction and poetry grid open Monday morning – just look in the kickoff post for the blue submission buttons for each grid. On the first Wednesday of each month you’ll see a special post opening our microprose grid. The popular vote on all grids opens Wednesday evening with its own post and closes the same time on Thursday, and we announce our popular vote winners and editorial staff picks on Fridays. Fridays also see our weekend writing showcase open in the evenings – it’s got no rules and it stays open through Sunday, so if you miss the main grids, you can still share your post!
Take a minute to browse or search our archives to see a typical week at YeahWrite. We also feature monthly instructional or challenge posts, which you’ll find collected here as well as in our writing help archive!

Something in the air tonight I live in the city now, but I grew up in the country. We didn't have air conditioning; we had one box fan and lots of screens. There's something about listening to the world fall asleep around me that is incredibly soothing. I love the...

Can you dig it?
This month's writing prompts are all about opening lines, but I'm still on my terminal words kick. Tritinas, diminishing poems, what's an editor in need of a poetry slam to do? Our September poetry slam takes a page out of Terrance Hayes' book - literally,...
