Latest On Jawa
The company has launched the dual-channel ABS variant of the Jawa for Rs 1,72,942, this is a premium of Rs 8,942 over the standard model. Deliveries are set to commence from June 2018. Existing bookings have the option of upgrading to the dual-channel variant and will also be given priority in the queue.
Jawa Motorcycles has launched two new models in India - the standard Jawa and the Jawa 42. The former is priced at Rs 1.64 lakh, while the latter will set you back by Rs 1.55 lakh. They also ‘launched’ a bobber variant called Perak at a price of Rs 1.89 lakh (all prices ex-Delhi). However, this model is likely to hit Jawa’s showrooms only by late-2019 or early-2020. The standard model is called the Jawa and features a properly old school design similar to the Jawa bikes of the past. Even the instrument console is reminiscent of the older motorcycle, but gets a small digital inset for the odometer. The speedometer and the fuel gauge are analogue units.
Despite being technologically modern, the engine has been designed to look like the two-stroke motors seen on older Jawas, adding more character to the overall styling. The 293cc liquid cooled, DOHC single-cylinder unit mated to a 6-speed gearbox produces 27.2PS and 28Nm.
It sits in a double cradle frame with telescopic forks up front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The spoke wheels are shod with MRF Zapper tyres. The motorcycle comes to halt using a 280mm disc and 153mm rear drum brake. Jawa offers only a single channel ABS as standard, likely due to cost constraints. The bike competes with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and UM Renegade Commando.

Q. Is the engine of Jawa is same as Mahindra Mojo? I am very much confused on this. Some says that Jawa is using Mahindra Mojo engine because Jawa is now being owned by Mahindra, while others say that its totally different from Mojo and Jawa itself is producing the engine.

Jawa Highlights
Design and Features
It looks properly classic with a design reminiscent of the erstwhile Jawa bikes. It features a round headlamp with chunky and easy to reach handlebars above. The rearview mirrors and the fuel tank also have a rounded profile. It sports telescopic forks up front, with a rather long fork cover a la the Royal Enfield Bullet. Nestled inside a double-cradle frame, the engine design is a nod to the ones in the older motorcycles. Attention to detail is exemplary. Its minimalistic instrument console consists of a single large black-faced dial that has just a speedometer, fuel gauge and odometer.
Specifications
The motorcycle comes with a 293cc single-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled engine that complies with BSVI emission norms. It generates 27PS of power and 28Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The motorcycle comes with a double cradle frame. Suspension setup includes conventional front forks and twin rear gas-charged shock absorbers. Competitors
Royal Enfield Classic 350: This is the best selling retro bike out there. It features a neo retro design and an old school 346 air-cooled motor that uses pushrods. This proper retro mill makes 20PS and 28Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed gearbox. Buy it for its old world charm. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is priced between Rs 1.39 lakh and Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom)
UM Renegade Commando: This retro cruiser comes with a carburetted and fuel injected 279.5cc liquid cooled single cylinder motor. The fuel injected motor makes 25PS and 23Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The carburetted version makes 23.5PS and the same 23Nm of torque. But it for its uniqueness. The UM Renegade Commando is priced at Rs 1.82 lakh (carb variant) and Rs 1.85 lakh (FI variant).
ZigSays
Despite its classic looks, the Jawa comes with modern underpinnings and is a good alternative to the retro Royal Enfield Classic 350. It should appeal to those looking for a more powerful retro motorcycle.

It"s too early to judge the new Jawa. It gives out lots of noises while even in idling. Clutch doesn"t seem to be very good. Performance rating after ten thousand kilometers would tell the real story of jawa. It has been hyped beyond imagination. Well let"s hope it satisfies expectations!.. ...read more
