Intel really hasn't had the best time with the Arrow Lake launch, but bless their hearts, they're still trying to fix things. It seems that Field Update 2 of 2 BIOSes is imminent, and the company says it will improve things further. I'm skeptical because my own testing on microcode 0x114 hasn't shown any meaningful improvements to our usual test suite, but I've only just noticed a second BIOS update with the new microcode in, so I'm going to do some testing on that once installed.
Another CES edition is currently underway, but the biggest announcements are pretty much all out there already, and it's safe to say that Lenovo pretty much won... again. I've said it before and I'll say it again, but I love that Lenovo is always willing to try something a little crazy. Most of the other companies do pretty much the same thing every year, introducing a redesign here or there, but rarely anything too out there, especially if it's a product you can actually buy.
But Lenovo surprises time and time again with cool products. Last year we had a Windows laptop and Android tablet all in one, and this year we have a laptop with an expandable display. These are concepts that almost certainly don't sell much (or they would get updated every year with new specs), but Lenovo does them just to show off what it can do, and I love that.

Nvidia talked about tons of software tools and new hardware at its CES keynote, and while the RTX 5090 might be the thing most consumers will lust after, there was one itty-bitty tiny box that Jensen pulled out of a pocket that I absolutely need to have on my desk. That's Project DIGITS, an AI supercomputer that's about the same size as the Mac mini, packed with 128GB of LPDDR5X, a Grace CPU with 20 Arm cores, and a whopping 1 PetaFLOP of FP4 compute thanks to a Blackwell GPU. It can run huge AI workloads, and if you connect two together it can run twice the parameters locally. It's a datacenter AI server shrunken to palm-sized, and I need one, like yesterday.
