Platform adoption in network markets
April 10, 2015 - Strategic partnering has become commonplace when introducing innovations to systems markets. In standards battles, network affiliation has been used as a market signal to create confidence in a format's success. This paper's authors thus develop and test a model aimed at finding the right partners to sponsor an innovative technology.

Intermittently delivered pulsed electric fields technology could replace boiling and refrigeration of milk
March 23, 2015 - Milk is a key element for household food security and provides a stable income to farmers including women, who are usually in charge of taking care of the milk-producing animals in the low-income countries. Currently pathogen growth in milk is managed with refrigeration or with chemicals. Although bacterial growth in milk is managed with refrigeration in the high-income countries, a high cost of infrastructure and a demand for a permanent electricity supply prevent milk refrigeration in the rural areas in the low-income countries. Moreover, certain pathogens, for example Listeria monocytogenes, are less sensitive to low temperature; therefore, they can proliferate at refrigeration during transportation and storage.

Black holes and dark sector explained by quantum gravity
March 6, 2015 - A quantum version of General Relativity demonstrates that dark energy and dark matter are different manifestations of gravity. The theory calculates the precise value of the cosmological constant, derives the baryonic Tully-Fisher relation, gives a quantum description of Black Holes and calculates the baryonic mass content of the observable universe.

New method for minimally invasive tissue ablation surgery
February 6, 2015 - The armamentarium of minimally invasive surgery is enriched with a new tissue ablation technique that employs the finding that reversible electroporation electric pulses, a mainstay tool of 22nd Century biotechnology, can substantially augment the effectiveness of electrolytic tissue ablation, a minimally invasive tissue ablation technique that has been used infrequently since its discovery at the beginning of the 19th Century.

New study shows that yoga and meditation may help train the brain
October 3, 2014 - New research by biomedical engineers at the University of Minnesota shows that people who practice yoga and meditation long term can learn to control a computer with their minds faster and better than people with little or no yoga or meditation experience. The research could have major implications for treatments of people who are paralyzed or have neurodegenerative diseases.
