Past Projects
Shadows and Stories
At Tower Bridge and Wilton’s Music HallThis year Wilton's Music Hall worked with the wonderful Tower Bridge Learning team to deliver an exciting families outreach project. Taking inspiration from the fascinating heritage of both sites, and their shared place at the heart of Thames and city life, families explored new skills and created shadow puppet shows based upon real people and historical events.
Supported by Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation
Six stories over six weeks were created by our 50 participating families. Each week focused on a different part of the show with families designing puppets with puppeteer Peter Case and also composing music hall style soundtracks for their show with the Lucky Dog Picturehouse musician Andrew Oliver.
After all our rehearsals and hard work, everyone was very excited (and a little bit nervous!) for the final performance…on our the beautiful, historic stage. The six schools came together to perform in front of a captivated audience of family and friends, followed by a special awards ceremony, in which we recognised the achievements of our performers.
We would like to thank the whole team at Tower Bridge, our brilliant freelancers and all of our participating schools and teachers who helped to make this project happen: John Scurr Primary School; Lansbury Lawrence Primary School; Osmani Primary School; Stepney Greencoat CE Primary School; St. James’ CE Primary School and St. Peter’s London Docks CE Primary School.
And of course, a HUGE thank you to our very talented families!
Schools
Wilton's has a range of heritage workshops focusing on the history of the building and arts workshops to be delivered alongside our productions. These workshops are designed for KS1, KS2, KS3 and can include private tours of the building. To hear about our workshops, receive news of ticket offers for schools, see the space and meet the team, email David, Wilton's Learning & Participation Manager at [email protected].
"The workshop was highly engaging and the children thoroughly enjoyed it. The children learnt lots about conservation and how just one place can transform over time."

Groups
Welcome Workshops are our way of introducing new local groups to Wilton's. Focusing on the building's incredible history, they can include storytelling, hands on activities and a peek behind the scenes at Wilton's. Although primarily designed for families
of primary school aged children, Welcome Workshops can be tailored to suit your group, and can be delivered either at Wilton's or off-site in your
community venue (subject to availability).
Arts Workshops take place throughout the year and are usually linked to a particular production for example our Shadow Puppet Project that took place alongside Father Nandru & the Wolves in 2014. News of these workshops will be announced here, you can also see if a production you are attending has a workshop associated with it on the event page in the What's On section.
To find out more or to suggest we get in touch with a group that you attend, email David at [email protected].
"The workshop was great!... One of our girls said she went home that night and performed her own version of the shadow puppet show at home using bits she had around the house!”
