UPS Guide for Shipping Ground and Air Hazardous MaterialsWhen you create a shipment, you can assign it a reference name or number that aligns with your customers' or your business systems. This reference can contain letters and/or numbers, and can be a Purchase Order (PO) number, a customer’s job number, a Bill of Lading number, or even a group of words that identifies the shipment. To use this reference to track your shipment, go to the main Tracking page and select Track by Reference. Input your reference in the Shipment Reference field, indicate whether your shipment is package or freight, and select your shipping dates. Then select the Track button.
If your shipment is expected to be in transit for more than a day between tracking scans, we will display the day and date of the Next Expected Tracking Event in the Shipment Progress area. This message does not mean that your shipment is behind schedule or stopped moving; it simply means that the tracking label might not be scanned for a while. We display the Next Expected Tracking Event so you can rest assured that your shipment is still moving even though no new tracking scans may appear for a while.
Your package is still within the UPS network and, unless otherwise noted, should be delivered on the scheduled delivery date. Shipment movement information is captured each time a tracking label is scanned in the UPS delivery system. There may be several days between scans if the shipment is going cross-country or moving between countries.

Go to the Tracking Support PageEnter your tracking number into the Tracking tool to see what day your package is due to arrive. Our drivers typically deliver between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Choose Request Status Updates from Tracking to receive email or text notifications.
The driver will try to leave your package out of plain sight for safety, so start by doing a little investigative work. Check all exterior doors and anyplace where the package could be placed. If you are still unable to locate the missing package, contact the sender to start a package investigation.
If ups.com Tracking shows that you have an "exception", it means an event or situation, such as a customs delay, may cause your delivery to be rescheduled. Check the Shipment Progress section in Tracking for details about changes in delivery schedule. Go to the Receiving Your Shipment Support PageYour team will need to get a UPS Shipping account in order to be invoiced. You'll specify the type of shipping you do when applying for the account. Once you receive your new account number, enroll in the UPS Billing Center, making sure to choose "Freight" in the enrollment window. You can also use UPS CampusShip® or Quantum View Manage® in conjunction with Billing, to further integrate end-to-end services for your freight shipments.
When you register on ups.com, you'll be able to store your address book online, print labels, and request tracking notifications. Depending on how much you ship and the level of support you need, you have the option to add functionality by signing up for a UPS Account, which will enable billing. Once your account is approved and you receive an account number, you can enroll in the UPS Billing Center for Small Packages, Freight or Supply Chain solutions. Be sure to add your accounts to your ups.com Profile and customize your dashboard with widgets that provide quick access to shipping, tracking, and billing capabilities.
