When embedded devices are networked, security can cause problems. Non-secured network devices can be hacked and exploited. Viruses and other malware can be introduced to the machines and may affect their functionalities, change control, or steal specific information. Historically, attacks focused on general purpose computers, but increasingly attackers are turning their attention toward the much broader and deeper opportunities represented by embedded devices. Intellectual property, private data, proprietary software and patents, and access to mission-critical system controls are increasingly at risk. In order to exclude devastating unauthorized use of your systems, it is essential to control access in an organized and certifiable fashion.
Technology
PikeOS Safe & Secure Virtualization
Security policies and access rights to your devices can be implemented and enforced at the operating system level. With PikeOS Safe& Secure Virtualization, you can isolate multiple applications in separate partitions and define exclusive communication channels via white list policies. In accordance with the concept of Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS ), PikeOS provides three levels of trust: the micro-kernel level in kernel-mode with basic functionalities only, the system software level in user mode, but still trustable, and the partition level with non-trustable user programs.
PikeOS provides a high security solution across industries, including Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Railway, Industrial Automation, Medical Devices, and Energy. A broad variety of personalities allows the development of diverse applications. Thanks to separation technology, applications of different security levels, different criticality levels, real-time or non-real-time can run concurrently in a mixed critical environment on a single standard hardware platform.
Security architectures (single & multi-core):
ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, QorlQ, SPARC v8/LEON, x86
Available Guest OS:
Android, App Store, AUTOSAR, Cryptographic Services, Certified POSIX, GENIVI, Linux Native
Common Criteria
Common criteria certification
In addition to safety regulations, more and more networked devices need security certification in compliance to Common Criteria and ISO /IEC 15408 and supporting various Evaluation Assurance Levels (EALs). PikeOS is the best certification solution for three reasons: small size, criticality partitioning, and unparalleled company support for the certification process.
Because PikeOS is purpose-built to meet certification needs, its essential features comprise only about 10,000 lines of code. The PikeOS partitioning concept makes it possible for applications of various levels of criticality to be certified for their individual required safety levels while running securely in parallel on the same hardware platform. Even more important for certification is a competent and reliable partner who does not leave you in a tight spot when it comes to documentation, requirements and tests. For over 15 years SYSGO has been supporting our customers with our own resources, with engineers, with workshops and training, as well as with artifacts and provision of source code.
Benefits
Why you should use PikeOS
PikeOS is an important part of the Common Criteria framework in which developers can implement the security functional and assurance requirements specified for their systems, select partitions that match security attributes for various platforms, and rigorously evaluate compliance. PikeOS meets both safety and security requirements of complex embedded devices at the same time and provides security functionalities for diverse industries:

R&D/Ecosystem
We take the lead by continuous research
Networked embedded devices have security issues similar to IT systems, but their deep integration into critical infrastructure makes their security even more paramount. National governments and the EU emphasize the importance of security and support businesses and research institutions with considerable research funding. SYS GO is a leading participant in major research projects, benefiting the industry while continually improving and expanding PikeOS , the sole European virtualization solution.
PikeOS serves as software platform in the following Security research projects:
ARAMIS, EUROMILS, HIVE, SESAM, SESAMO, TECOM, Verisoft, vIrtical
Industry ecosystem and collaboration
Industrial projects use a wide range of software and hardware products. Flawless interaction between the components used is vital to the success of complex projects. For this reason, we have been working in close collaboration with the leading global Industrial Automation suppliers for many years now. We support a wide selection of hardware platforms with our software products and have developed interfaces for code generators and analysis tools which are constantly being expanded.
