I’m a spabettie. I’ve been a Spa Director since college and a spa-goer even longer! My spa career includes the construction phase and opening of a large resort tennis club and spa, directing large capacity spas, spa business and software consulting. I have a wellness approach to spa – that it is more of a necessary maintenance, not only an indulgence. I infuse this philosophy into both atmosphere and treatment, and find it all extremely exhilarating and healing!
I believe my philosophy on spa is translated to my outlook on life, fitness and nutrition – clean eating and fun movement balanced with the right amount of indulgence.
I found a passion for creating in the kitchen at an early age, standing on a stool to reach the counter. I designed kitchens out of sand in my backyard sandbox. In college, I created elaborate dinner parties every weekend and invited my friends to enjoy. I bought cookbooks and equipment and taught myself to cook!
Several years ago, I talked myself into a store director position with a well known European deli and bakery here in Portland, and in addition to my duties I enjoyed attending classes from knife skills to baking, including laminated dough. I sometimes arrived at 4am to bake the croissants we made the day before. All of it was a major learning experience and I loved every minute.
I love to create (mostly) healthy recipes with vibrant fresh foods. I loosely follow an anti-inflammatory diet, while leaving room for indulgence. I like the challenge of making a regular recipe vegan and or gluten free, and creating recipes from scratch. I have also proofed and tested recipes for several cookbooks, and have ideas for my own cookbook.
We live in beautiful Portland, Oregon, a city known for fabulous restaurants, carts, general food love. We enjoy dining out – there is always a new place to discover! Portland also has much to offer the active person: miles of biking and running trails, awesome ski resorts and beautiful beaches. I played tennis, skied and ran my way through youth and college. (I was barefoot running on the track in jr. high!).
I love to connect with my readers, please leave comments or email me anytime!
Cheers!

from Kristina: you will only find positive reviews on this site, as I reserve the right to decline review if the product is not one I am absolutely and completely excited about. I know many “skim” read articles, and I do not want to feature any brand or product here that I do not like.
