What is the Fellowship?
The Shomer Collective Educator Fellowship is a 9-month, online, cohort-based learning experience for Jewish educators from a variety of settings and backgrounds. It empowers these educators, and thereby their students, to apply Jewish wisdom to questions about life and death, normalizing conversations about death and dying in Jewish educational spaces.
The fellowship is a learning community and an innovation lab, as Fellows deepen their own knowledge about Jewish approaches to death, dying, and mourning, and work together to create educational resources.

Cohort 2 of the Fellowship will meet twice a month from September 2024- May 2025, including both full group and small group/chevruta learning. Fellowship meetings will be held from 4 - 5:30 pm ET/ 1- 2:30 PT, on:

All sessions will be 90-minutes long, and will be held remotely, on Zoom.

Fellows should plan to dedicate approximately 8-10 hours/ month to the Fellowship, including Fellowship meetings, chevruta/small study, development and implementation of an educational project.

Each fellow will create an educational program bringing Jewish wisdom about life and death to their communities, accompanied by an educational resource to be shared with the field, for example, through the Jewish Education Project Resource Portal.

Yes. All fellows must be affiliated with an organization in which they will pilot their project.

Yes! We value your time. All fellows will receive a stipend of $1800, to be paid in two installments: January and June 2025, upon successful completion of fellowship requirements.
