Meet the Class of 2015 Schoology Ambassadors

Kellie Ady
“We do all of our Professional Development courses and Professional Learning Communities in Schoology at a district level.”

Tara Amsterdam
"Through a blended experience, I am pushing districts around the state to think of Schoology as an innovative tool to help facilitate student learning and growth."

Dustin Andrus
"To meet the needs of my teachers, I created two Schoology Ed-Camps for 140+ teachers to share and teach each other. Watching teachers collaborate across districts was so rewarding."

Kelly Baker
"I attribute using Schoology as a part of the reason I was selected as Los Angeles County Teacher of the year. One of the best parts about using Schoology was the fact that I could invisibly differentiate and modify assignments for my students with special needs."

Kristie Burk
“We are using Schoology to run our entire blended learning program of 450 students.”

Nichole Carter
"[I've] been in contact with another teacher through Schoology that teaches in Australia and we are working on a way to get the students to connect and work together."

Natasha Monsaas-Daly
"I find that [the Schoology Public Group] help me grow in my own Schoology use, but also that I can give back to other users. I constantly have new ideas for ways to use Schoology and I would love to share those ideas."

Will Deyamport
“The workflow of using Resources to develop a 'digital filing cabinet,' where teachers can work collaboratively to curate materials."

Toni Dunstan
"We were in fact the very first school in NZ to sign up to the enterprise version. Without any directive or compulsory requirements we ended up with 100% staff and student involvement within two months."

Thomas Gavin
"Schoology is providing teachers with the tools necessary to meet student needs and remediate and/or accelerate student learning. We are excited as a district to partner with Schoology and take part in creating the classrooms of the future."

Ellie Gilbert
"I decided to go paperless my first year using Schoology and did the math on what [it] saved me. I calculated that over 10 weeks I saved a conservative minimum of 10,800 sheets of paper just in handouts alone."

Catherine Gillner
"With 1,000 iPads in my middle school I created a course titled Mobile Technology Integration. I have designed quests and my course is completely gamified using Schoology with Google and BrainPOP integration."

Brian Green

Josiah Hills
"As a teacher and teacher leader, I became more and more convinced that education reform had to be paired with technological solutions to enable educators to be effective in a very challenging landscape."

David Kalk
"We are piloting a 1:1 program with the entire 5th grade at one of our schools…within the next 2-3 years, our entire district will be 1:1 and my goal is for all teachers to engage their students in and out of the classroom using Schoology."

Rodney Kirby
"I have been making use of Schoology for staff development, including training in the use of Schoology. I developed a brief course (using student completion rules) for all new teachers, which covers the basics of using Schoology."

Cory Klinge
"We have been able to customize our program [with] the flexibility of Schoology and the open API."

Steven Knight
"[In my district], we have the focus on moving forward every year towards more enhanced usage, a PreK-12 continuum, the go to social and academic source of information for all students and a place for all teachers to find PD opportunities."

Smita Kolhatkar
“If I absolutely had to pick one, the collaboration aspect, the community it builds, whether amongst students, staff, or between the two parties."

Fran Kompar
"I created [a] program of study using Schoology [where] future Library Media Specialists learned how to use Schoology as part of their education...I have introduced Schoology to 14 districts, 133 schools and over 150 teachers and library media specialists."

Carol Lawrence
"We are providing synchronous and asynchronous online PD. Blended learning is being modeled, so they can begin to understand how to build powerful blended instruction themselves."

Michael League
"I collaborate with teachers to design learning activities that integrate video, discussions, and collaborative tools like Google Apps (integrated with Schoology)."

MJ Linane
"When I moved my debates [onto Schoology] ... someone wouldn’t realize it was a debate because the classroom was dead silent ... students used the discussion tool and engaged in a lively debate that would allow everyone access."

Jared Lopatin
"I work in a Deaf school. My students use American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate, which means English is not their first language. However, I have discovered that English is not even their second language; technology is."

Erin Mayer
“My 7th grade science course is problem-based, self-paced, and differentiated. Students determine what they will do each day when they come to science class using their Schoology unit folders as a guide."

Matt McArthur
“I currently use it for my virtual school courses and creating/delivering professional development district-wide.”

Andrew McCormick
It's been a great platform for me to create and manage a new class called Technology in Art" and I soon hope to start offering this class 100% online as I can now embed screencast videos and video comments like I've never been able to before."

Rachel Murat
"I would like to spread my love of Schoology beyond my district and EdCamps that I attend. My enthusiasm and knowledge of Schoology could help others discover the opportunities Schoology provides an educator."

Josh Ornelas
"The beauty of Schoology is the ability to share and collaborate, not just within your personal learning community, but with individuals all over the world."

Amber Paynter
"I find myself sharing with teachers the value of creating a personalized and humanized experience for our students...I am grateful to extend our classroom walls using Schoology because of the depth of personalization that is available."

Sean Scanlon
"I developed [a] training for our faculty ... every teacher started using Schoology within 3 weeks. Not only are they using Schoology, but they are using it with great efficiency and utilizing tools that I didn’t expect them to even ask about until next year."

Erin Schiller
"As my passion and vision for personalized learning has evolved, so have my instructional design practices. Through the use of one-page lessons, users develop efficient access to learning resources via the rich text editor. This powerful feature allows for less clicks and more learning."

Tim Scholefield
"I don't always get the opportunity to walk through classrooms and visit sites but with Schoology I can find students and teachers sharing ideas, creating media rich projects, and being able to do so from their classroom to other classrooms across our district and abroad.”

Robert Schuetz
“I see the existing power of Schoology's learning communities becoming even stronger when learners begin communicating and collaborating supported by Portfolios.”

Jeanie Smith
"Enabling green practice, better communications, transparency of grading, rubrics and expectations, sharing resources and information-- [Schoology is] an amazing set of tools for teachers at all levels, in all subjects."

Keith Sorensen

Melissa Stanton
"Not only do I teach students with special needs how to succeed in school, but I also need to increase their test scores. Usually we have some success with students increasing their scores year to year, but the year I introduced Schoology and the iPads we skyrocketed."

Joe Young
"This year I've gotten more involved with the quizzes and tests feature. This has definitely helped my students and me go paperless."
Applications are Open
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and a new class of Ambassadors is announced every September. Selected Ambassadors must commit to participating in the Ambassador program for one full academic year (September-August). If you're not ready to be an Ambassador yourself, consider nominating a colleague or member of your PLN.
