SANTA MONICA, CA (September 1, 2015) - Saatchi Art (saatchiart.com), the world’s leading online gallery for emerging art, today announced the appointment of Hayley Miner as Director of Art Advisory to the Trade.
An art advisor with extensive experience in interior design, Ms. Miner will develop the art advisory program’s specialized trade division, catering to the needs of interior designers and architects, whose art purchases are part of a growing international art market valued at $65 billion a year. With more than 15 years of experience in art advisory and interior design, Ms. Miner most recently ran an art consulting firm advising private and corporate clients on building art collections. Previously, she worked for celebrated White House decorator Michael S. Smith on numerous large-scale residential and hospitality projects.
“Hayley’s expertise combined with our unparalleled selection of original art allows us to deliver exactly what a designer needs quickly and without having to spend any of the client’s budget on art advisory services—which typically cost upwards of $250 an hour,” said Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and Vice President of Art Advisory at Saatchi Art.
“From working one-on-one with the designer to understand the project brief, to sourcing and shipping artwork, Hayley and our team of curators make a trusted, one-stop solution for designers, offered completely free of charge.”
With its art advisory program, Saatchi Art streamlines the process of sourcing, buying, and shipping original art, saving individuals and interior designers the hours typically spent visiting multiple brick-and-mortar galleries and unraveling international shipping logistics. The on-demand advisory service leverages the expertise of curators, who carefully parse through the more than 500,000 original works of art for sale on saatchiart.com. Prospective buyers seeking guidance through the service receive artwork suggestions personalized to their tastes and budgets within 5 business days.
Designers around the world, including acclaimed interior designer Adam Hunter of Adam Hunter, Inc., regard Saatchi Art’s advisory service as an indispensable tool:
"I am a huge fan of Saatchi Art because they make the art selection process seamless and enriching,” Hunter said. “Art is essential in my life. It is literally the color—that magic pixie dust—that enhances my rooms. With their art advisory service, I am able to choose from a specially curated collection of artworks handpicked by my personal advisor based on my specific needs.”
In addition to providing guidance to designers with residential clients, the expanded trade division will extend its reach to serve those working with hospitality, healthcare, and corporate clients.
Both individuals and members of the design trade are welcome to use Saatchi Art’s free art advisory service. To consult with a curator who can help you find art to suit your style, space, and budget, visit saatchiart.com/artadvisory or call +1 888-622-9767.

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 1, 2015) - Saatchi Art (saatchiart.com) today announced it will present Bradley Wood’s first solo show in New York in a pop-up space on the Lower East Side. This exhibition continues the online gallery’s series of solo shows in “real world” spaces, highlighting the work of exceptional emerging artists from all over the world who are part of Saatchi Art.
Curated by Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator at Saatchi Art, the exhibition, entitled “Domestic Fictions,” will present a new series of paintings which are as much about the “luscious butteriness of oil paint,” as Wood puts it, as they are rich narratives about an eclectic cast of characters.
Once described as “a slacker Vuillard,” Wood follows in the tradition of figurative interior painting, creating intimate settings inspired by his own paradoxical experience of being an artist living on the edge of an affluent New York suburb.
Based in New York and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, Wood has recently shown his work in New York, London, and Toronto. In 2014, he was selected for Saatchi Art’s ongoing Invest in Art series, which features outstanding emerging artists from around the world whose works suggest great promise and investment potential.
“We are really excited to be presenting Bradley Wood’s first solo in New York. I was immediately struck by his paintings when he joined Saatchi Art — the fluid brushstrokes, intriguing characters, and sexual tension, but above all his exuberant use of paint which is even more seductive when you see the works in the flesh,” said Wilson.
The exhibition will be open to the public from June 3rd to 7th, with an opening night on Thursday, June 4th and a late opening on Saturday, June 6th.
Operating hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 11am-6pm.

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 22, 2014) - Saatchi Art (www.saatchiart.com) today announced it will be presenting Hormazd Narielwalla’s second solo show in London at the Georgian atelier of bespoke tailor Timothy Everest. This marks the debut of Saatchi Art’s new series of solo shows highlighting the work of exceptional emerging artists from all over the world who are part of Saatchi Art.
Narielwalla, winner of Saatchi Art’s Showdown Prize, (http://bit.ly/1ChA6eq) uses bespoke Savile Row tailoring patterns, and their antiquarian and contemporary trade counterparts, to create artworks exploring the body in abstract form. His practice began in the workrooms of the tailoring firm Dege & Skinner in London’s Savile Row, with an artist’s book, Dead Man’s Patterns (2008), which reflects on the bespoke suit patterns of deceased customers. Narielwalla has worked with patterns from many sources, including 1970s luxury lingerie, antique magazine inserts, uniforms from the British Raj, and a 1920s tailoring manual. Freed from the function of the original pattern sheets, Narielwalla’s artworks propose a new interpretation of tailoring patterns as abstracted drawings of the human form.
The venue for the exhibition couldn’t be more fitting – a Georgian house in which one of London’s most celebrated tailors transforms tailoring patterns into bespoke clothes for the likes of Gilbert & George and Tracey Emin.
“I’ve often said that tailoring is an art form,” says Timothy Everest, “and now Hormazd Narielwalla has demonstrated the literal truth of that statement, with a series of works based on discarded tailoring patterns from establishments such as ourselves. He layers colored acetates and tissue paper onto various sections of the original pattern to form a dynamic abstract composition – a sort of bespoke bricolage."
Narielwalla’s first solo show in London, Study on Anansi, was exhibited by Sir Paul Smith in 2009. In 2013 Saatchi Art announced Narielwalla as ‘One to Watch’ and in 2014 he won the Saatchi Art Showdown Prize. His work has been commissioned by the UK Crafts Council for the national touring exhibit Block Party (2011) and Collect 13 at the Saatchi Gallery (2013). He exhibits regularly in London, and has shown work in Melbourne, Stockholm and Athens as well as at Scope Art Fair in New York (2010) and the India Art Fair, New Delhi (2014). Other collaborations and associations include Centre of Possible Studies/Serpentine Gallery; Beams Tokyo; V&A Museum Shop; Artbelow; Jigsaw; Tiger of Sweden; Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill and CHART gallery. Narielwalla’s work is held in public and private collections worldwide, including the British Library; the National Art Library, INIVA; Fashion Institute of Technology, New York; and Parsons School of Art & Design, New York. Narielwalla holds a PhD from University of Arts, London, and is the author of a biography of Master Tailor Michael Skinner, The Savile Row Cutter (Benefactum, 2011). www.saatchiart.com/narielwalla
There will be an invitation-only private view on Tuesday 3 March. The exhibition will be open to the public from March 4 to 21.

SANTA MONICA, CA (December 11, 2014) - Saatchi Art, the leading online art gallery, today announced a new mobile application that transforms the experience of buying art online by enabling users to virtually preview artwork on their walls before making a purchase.
“For art buyers, one of the hardest parts of making a purchase is imagining what a work will look like on your own wall,” said Scott Boecker, General Manager of Saatchi Art. “With the app’s View In A Room feature, we’ve eliminated that guesswork by allowing you to use your phone’s camera to view a specific work to scale on your wall in real time. If you like the work, you can snap a picture of it within the app and easily share it with family and friends.”
Highlights of Saatchi Art’s app:
Saatchi Art’s app also allows artists to photograph, upload and manage their artwork online, and to connect with a global community of art lovers.
“Artists spend their days in studios rather than in front of computers but they always have their phones with them, so the artist features on the app will speed up the process for uploading their new works and help them to easily monitor their sales online,” said Rebecca Wilson, Saatchi Art’s Chief Curator and Director, Art Advisory.
The Saatchi Art app is free and available for download at www.saatchiart.com/mobile and is available in the iTunes app store under “Saatchi Art”. To download high-resolution images, visit: bit.ly/saatchi-art-app.

Launched in 2007 by Rebecca Wilson, chief curator of online art gallery Saatchi Art (www.saatchiart.com), New Sensations supports the most imaginative and talented young artists in the UK and presents their work to an international audience each year during Frieze Week.

LOS ANGELES, CA (June 17, 2014) - Saatchi Art today announced Hormazd Narielwalla as the winner of “The Body Electric” Showdown competition, its signature quarterly art prize. The prize, which attracted more than 4,000 entries in a period of just 14 days, is one of the most highly-submitted art prizes in the world.
Acclaimed artist Raffi Kalenderian, acting as judge for the final round of the competition, announced his selections for the top ten finalists, naming Hormazd Narielwalla as the winner and Maarten Van Den Bos as the runner-up. Narielwalla and Van Den Bos will receive cash prizes in the amounts of $1,000USD and $500USD respectively. Kalenderian selected his finalists from a shortlist of 30 artists determined by a jury led by Saatchi Art’s chief curator, Rebecca Wilson.
Praising the high standard of the entries, Kalenderian said:
“I loved the colors and composition of Hormazd Narielwalla's piece. The scale of the work also seemed perfect. When I read about his process of making collages and finding radical abstraction within antique tailoring patterns, sourced from a Parisian fashion magazine, I thought: ‘This is an artist after my own heart.’
“Maarten Van Den Bos' work struck me as wonderfully beguiling. The scale for this work seemed important, too. I wish I could see it in person. The line between figuration and abstraction is handled in a superior way. There is a psychic energy between the figures, and I dig it."
Launched in 2010 as an opportunity for art collectors to discover emerging artists from around the world, Showdown is a competition hosted by Saatchi Art for artists to showcase their work and have the chance for it to be judged by internationally celebrated artists and curators. Kalenderian, widely praised for his observational portraits within richly textured backgrounds, joins previous judges who have included Barnaby Furnas, Ged Quinn, Wangechi Mutu, Peter Coffin, Dexter Dalwood, Matthias Weischer, Chantal Joffe, and Jaime Gili.
The works of the 10 finalists are available for viewing online at www.saatchiart.com/showdown. The finalists include Hormazd Narielwalla (UK), Maarten Van Den Bos (UK), Anna Madia (France), Ronny Broeckx (Belgium), Wilfrid Moizan (Saint-Martin, French West Indies), Kirsten Strauss (USA), Julien Corcoran Porisse (France), Stephan Fowlkes (USA), Melinda Matyas (UK), and Kathryn Dunlevie (USA).

The exhibition further cements Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill's ongoing support for up-and-coming artists, and encourages guests and visitors to interact with art in new ways, outside of the usual environment of a gallery or museum. All the works in the exhibition are available for purchase.
‘Spring Fever’ comprises a selection of works from Saatchi Art -- the online art gallery launched by the Saatchi Gallery to connect emerging artists and art buyers all over the world -- on display throughout the hotel's lobby, reception and restaurant areas. Featured artists include rising talents such as Gabriella Boyd, who has exhibited at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition and at the Beijing Biennale; Tahnee Lonsdale, shortlisted for the 2012 Dazed and Confused Emerging Artist award for '100 Painters of Tomorrow'; and Timothy Hon Hung Lee, whose second solo show in March 2014 at Cock n Bull Gallery in London has been sponsored by Hix Restaurants and Bonhams.
The exhibition comes hand in hand with the unveiling of a brand-new interpretation of the Saatchi Suite - an exciting, contemporary art experience unlike any other in London. It will house iconic furniture from Republic of Fritz Hansen including a highly sought-after four piece furniture collection by Danish designer, Poul Kjaerholm (1929-80) entitled 'PK 4 x 20', inspired by Piet Mondrian's 1935 painting, 'Composition C (No. III) with Red, Yellow and Blue'. Kjaerholm's designs are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and other museum collections in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany.
Alongside the furniture of Kjaerholm will be works by emerging artists Hormazd Narielwalla and Tully Satre which explore texture through collage and painting. Narielwalla works with bespoke Saville Row tailoring patterns and won the only International Rector's Scholarship from the University of the Arts London. In 2009, Paul Smith presented Narielwalla's first solo show at his Mayfair gallery and since then, he has exhibited in London, Melbourne, Stockholm, Athens, New Delhi and New York. Satre has degrees from the Royal Academy of Arts, London, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago; his post-modernist paintings layer oil paint and strips of canvas on canvas.
For art and design aficionados, or for those looking to enjoy an individual hotel experience, the Saatchi Suite is a must-stay in London.
The exhibition is open to the public from 09.00 on 27 March 2014, free of charge. A one-night stay in the Saatchi Suite at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill starts from £960 (including VAT) on a B&B basis.

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 10, 2013) - Saatchi Online, the world’s leading online art gallery, today announced the appointment of Sean Moriarty, a business leader with deep experience in both consumer and Internet markets, as the company’s chief executive officer. Mr. Moriarty will set the strategic direction and lead day-to-day operations for the company as Saatchi Online seeks to accelerate its growth as a marketplace connecting art buyers and artists from around the world.
Mr. Moriarty, 43, brings a wealth of applicable experience to his new post. Most recently, he has served as a business advisor, board member and investor in the technology, media and entertainment industries. In this role, he has worked closely with startups – including TuneIn.com, Eventbrite and Metacloud – that have gained widespread customer awareness and significant operating momentum in their markets.
Earlier, Mr. Moriarty spent nine years in top management roles at Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc., the market leader in ticket sales and distribution. He joined the company in 2000 as executive vice president of product and technology, was named chief operating officer four years later and was appointed president and CEO in 2007. From 2004 to 2008, Ticketmaster’s annual revenue nearly doubled to $1.4 billion. During his tenure, Mr. Moriarty led a complete revamping of Ticketmaster’s technology platform, expanded the company’s international presence from seven to 22 countries (including China) and steered an initial public offering of Ticketmaster shares as part of a spinout from parent IAC/InterActiveCorp.
At Saatchi Online (www.saatchionline.com), Mr. Moriarty assumes leadership of a business that is redefining the experience of buying and selling art, a global market valued at $65 billion a year. “Buying original artwork – particularly at traditional art galleries – is difficult and uncomfortable for many people,” he said. “Saatchi Online is opening up the art buying experience by offering the best and most accessible selection of artwork from around the world and by reducing the friction of the traditional art market.”
Added Mr. Moriarty: “Saatchi Online offers a showcase for emerging artists from all over the world to exhibit their work and sell directly to buyers. Our mission is to connect people with art and artists they love.”
Saatchi Online was launched by London’s renowned Saatchi Gallery with the aim of promoting contemporary art by emerging artists from across the globe. It became an e-commerce business in 2011. Saatchi Online presents original works of art in an expertly curated environment that welcomes, informs and guides buyers. It exhibits paintings, drawings, sculpture and photography in a variety of price ranges, shows work by more than 25,000 artists and has buyers in 80 countries.
The appointment of Mr. Moriarty marks a key inflection point in the growth and evolution of the company.
“Sean is uniquely qualified and exceptionally well suited to take Saatchi Online to the next level of growth and adoption,” said Roberto Bonanzinga, a partner at Balderton Capital, an early investor in the online art gallery. “Sean’s executive leadership skills, his business and technology acumen and his feel for contemporary culture are a powerful combination that will serve Saatchi Online exceedingly well.”
“Project A is proud to be an early investor in Saatchi Online and to have given the company operational support at an early stage in its growth,” said Uwe Horstmann, founding partner and managing director of Project A Ventures, a Berlin-based company builder. “We look forward to the next phase of Saatchi Online’s development under Sean. He is an inspiring leader who has built great teams at outstanding companies over many years.”
In addition to his board roles at TuneIn, Eventbrite and Metacloud, Mr. Moriarty is chairman of Los Angeles-based startup Triton Digital. He also serves on the board of the non-profit Pat Tillman Foundation. Mr. Moriarty is a native of western Massachusetts and earned a B.A. degree in English from the University of South Carolina. He resides in Pasadena, Calif. with his wife and two daughters.

New to-the-trade service offers access to expert advice and guidance from curators
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 20, 2013) - Saatchi Online (www.saatchionline.com), a global online marketplace featuring original art by emerging artists, officially debuts a new to-the-trade art advisory service, “Saatchi Online By Design,” at Dwell On Design in Los Angeles, June 21-23, 2013.
Helmed by Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator of Saatchi Online and Director of the Saatchi Gallery, “Saatchi Online By Design” offers exclusive curation services to interior designers, architects, and members of the trade looking to acquire works by emerging artists.
"’Saatchi Online By Design’ is part of the mission of Saatchi Online to make contemporary art more widely available and to help professionals acquire works for clients in an accessible environment," says Wilson. "Having an art advisor is usually very expensive and only something that people with significant budgets can afford. With this service, we are hoping to share our expertise and knowledge about emerging artists with interior designers, making the process of finding the right works cost-effective and efficient."
The “Saatchi Online By Design” team of advisors will work to specific briefs in order to recommend works across a range of media, including painting, photography, sculpture, installation, drawing, and limited editions. Our team of curators can also work with artists on specific commissions. Whether looking for a collection of works, one standout piece, or an investment piece, trade professionals are asked to visit saatchionline.com/bydesign to provide details related to budget, style, and preferences.
“Art advisory services as well as access to the world’s top curators is something that has long been reserved for the world’s top collectors” says Margo Spiritus, CEO of Saatchi Online. “Our goal is to democratize the art world, connecting talented emerging artists around the world directly to art lovers, skipping the formalities of the traditional gallery system. “Saatchi Online By Design“ takes it a step further, offering expert curatorial advice and art advisory services to the trade.”
Attendees of Dwell On Design are invited to preview ”Saatchi Online at Dwell on Design,” a collection of work handpicked by Rebecca Wilson available for purchase at Saatchi Online’s booth (#1300).

Beginning Wednesday, July 18, every day for 100 days Saatchi Online will reveal one curator’s selection of ten artists to be included in the largest exhibit of its kind. The curators have made their selections from over 60,000 artists that are currently exhibited on Saatchi Online. The stamp of approval from these curators provides a tremendous benefit to both artists and collectors. Artists who are selected will enjoy greater visibility and recognition, while first-time buyers as well as seasoned collectors will gain confidence in buying art online, by having experienced curators handpick and validate great emerging talent.
This is the inaugural exhibit under the helm of Saatchi Online’s new CEO, Margo Spiritus. “Our mission at Saatchi Online is to provide all artists with the tools, opportunity and support to have sustainable careers and to make a living selling their art. By providing a global platform visited by art lovers from over 190 countries each month, we are able to connect consumers and curators alike who would otherwise never have the opportunity to discover their work,” says Spiritus.
Saatchi Online was started by the Saatchi Gallery in London in 2006 in order to help artists without gallery representation to find an audience for their work. It is estimated that over 1 million artists across the globe aren’t represented by galleries. Saatchi Online provides these talented artists with a platform to showcase and sell their work in an environment with an excellent reputation for introducing outstanding artists.
