Bathroom lights.
Unless you hook them up to: motion, humidity, temperature, IR and proximity sensors.
My bathroom lights are fully automated. There is also an Echo Dot in the bathroom. If Jeff Bezos really wants to listen to me take a shit, well, Jeff, I’m just about finished here now but maybe next time.
Too real. I don’t have an automated garage door, but I can remote control it. I typically feel OK about this, because it makes a big loud beeping sound for 5 seconds before it remote closes and it has all the usual sensors and stuff. My wife and I were upstairs one evening getting ready for bed, and I got an alert from HASS that her garage door was still open. I mentioned this to her, she shrugged and said she guessed she forgot...so I remote closed the door. But then 10 seconds later I got an alert that it was open again.
I went down to look...she hadn’t pulled her car in far enough, and the door hit the bumper on her car and scratched the hell out of it. :-/
That is not the fault of automation.
Call and tell them you want to cancel. They offer you different packages until you get a $25 for 5 months deal with a $3 fee of some kind. Basically $5 a month. I call every five months, tell them I’m canceling because it’s too expensive, and renew at the $25 rate.
Cause that’s not the sign of a shady business or anything.
I’m thinking I’ll cancel SiriusXM and trade it for OnStar and its LTE hotspot, then wire in an Echo Dot to the Aux port.
Don't bother, it's just too primitive/expensive atm to actually make your life simpler. These smart-bulbs alone are like $25-$50 a bulb. My friend has some and he says they're more trouble than they're worth. Give it 5-10 years and the tech will be a lot more reliable.
Bulbs are $5-10 these days. If your friend is an early adopter and wound up with one of the shittier systems (looking at you, WeMo) I can understand why he would be frustrated.
"You might burn to death, but if you don't show up to work you're fired."
What they actually say is you can evacuate if your judgment says it’s necessary, but the absences will be counted as unpaid and unexcused leave. Since the leave was unexcused, it counts as job abandonment, so you don’t get unemployment compensation when you come back to the toothpicks that are left of your house.
Basically:
The name of your child affects how that child is perceived by others and how that child perceives themselves, even if only subconsciously.
IIRC he also says that white people are more likely to give their kids generic names and black people are more likely to give their kids unique names or names with unique spellings.
Eighryille Kh’mbrlee Smith-McAnderson James would disagree with you but she’s in private rehab care right now
It's $100. It's marketing.
So, I was ready to rip him for donating pocket change. His net worth is estimated to be $280,000, which is 90% less than the average senator. Mr. Flake owns a house and maybe a car, and if he’s got debt, that $100 might be an actual meaningful portion of his budget wait he’s been in office since 2001 making $170,000 a year nevermind he’s just good at living lavishly or hiding assets or possibly both.
“We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other's products and services. But Amazon doesn't carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest's latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon.”
Can't really blame them
You know, now I wonder if the decision to not include a voice-activated Siri on the new Apple TV 4K was the concession Apple made to Amazon to get their product back on sale, and get Prime Video on the Apple TV. Because it always seemed like a glaring oversight.
And now I wonder if the fact that Apple TV still doesn’t have Prime Video and the HomePod has been delayed indicates the matter hasn’t been fully put to bed yet. Especially since Apple took a jab at Echo’s sound quality when announcing the HomePod and Amazon responded by releasing new ones with Dolby sound.
This is the best trump speech impression I have ever read. It belongs in the library of congress.
Because a fair bit of it is a control-F search and replace of his actual post-Charlottesville equivocation around the subject of whether or not Nazis are, in fact, bad.
stipulate
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stipulation
What’s that saying? Better to remain silent and be thought an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt?
While I've got no choice but to accept the definition,
In the law of the United States...
I'm not American so have no reason to have ever encountered that definition of the word. But I'll forgive you, we all make mistakes that can then be the target of tired and sickeningly patronising adages, can't we?
Assume makes an ass out of 'u' and me.
If you’re gonna call someone out about something, ya might want to make sure you’re actually correct before doing so, all’s I’m saying.
You made the correct choice, the silver SS version shows too much wear and scratches. The black version makes the screen disappear and it handles wear better, not to mention I get way more compliments on my black versus the silver.
It can easily be polished back to a mirror finish, though. I used to do that monthly with my SS S0. I currently have an aluminum S3 because that S0 finally decided it needed to tell me that it was water resistant and not waterproof (died in a pool) and the SS S3’s had a 4-6 week ship wait.
I’ve already scratched the damn Ion-X screen on this thing. I miss the sapphire and will probably sell and replace the aluminum for the SS.
Tell me more about your USB-C to DisplayPort cables. I have a 2015 MacBook that I’ve got a 4K monitor hooked up to over HDMI with Apple’s dongle, and the 30Hz limitation bothers me to no end. All the USB-C to DisplayPort converters don’t include a power passthru which I kind of need since it’s my desktop computer.
I can't say much of records, but I know during Spieth's Masters win he tied the lowest ever score there, set by Tiger. And he did it at age 21, going wire-to-wire that tournament. Then killed it the next Masters too, until an awful shot cost him on the last 8 holes.
Like I said, not really sure about Tiger's records, but this generation is good. And they are so many that are able to reach that level, it makes for some awesome competition.
If that kid could figure out how to play #12, he’d have three green jackets by now.
Is this still available. Do yo have a photo?
It is! I’ll PM you a photo in a moment.
Eight hundred five eight eight, two three hundred, Empire! Today.
Call Jim,

Seven seven seven, seven seven seven seven!
Holy crap, I didn't expect to see this one here! Have you read about him? There's a Wikipedia article about him!
Rachacha represent! Didn’t realize he was a scumbag though. That kind of sucks. Someone go tell the boys, Vinnie and Angelo, at Irrrrrondequoit-a Dodge.
lol no joke, I did as well! Gotta love TNG.
I know Discovery is off doing its own thing, but I really hope they manage to get Q in there.
I have stickied this post in case you have installed updates in the sequences that causes this condition to happen.
PLEASE READ THE ARTICLE and follow its recommendations for remediation if you first installed the security update, and then installed the macOS update, as you are vulnerable until you reinstall the security update and reboot.
I'm not shocked at all. When quality developers are in high demand and Apple wants the OS upgraded every year, we wind up with lack luster and poor quality software.
If Apple was truly a green company, they would encourage users to keep using their older hardware. They only way they could do that is if they kept supporting older versions of the OS. The only way they could do that is if they didn't try to annually re-invent the wheel. Windows 7 is about the same age as Snow Leopard for crying out loud! At least when Windows makes makes an unpopular change, they have the decency to fix the issue by bringing back the older method. I'm sick of Apple. I'm sick of their green propaganda. Breaking the Root user is completely unacceptable!
Microsoft ended mainstream support for windows 7 over two years ago.

If it were aimed at one. When Voyager was launched, we had not yet discovered extrasolar planets.
It will drift endlessly through the night, a monument to our achievement certainly, but also to our ambition and our arrogance.
It contains a plaque that will never be seen, and a record that will never be played.
Voyager is a question for which there will be no answer.

God damn, the nineties really were the best.
I foresee a rash of boating accidents.
This goes past security vulnerability to asking, does Apple have ANY quality control anymore?
Haven’t since 10.5 Leopard.
On Windows 95 or 98 I think you could hit "cancel" on the login screen to get in
That wasn’t really a login screen, it was a what profile do you want to load screen.
I was in Thailand at a Japanese owned manufacturing facility this past summer. Lots of Japanese bowing and Thai Namaste bowing. The Japanese laughed hysterically at me when I accidentally Namaste bowed to them.
Originally read that as Naruto bowed and imagined that run without the running part and nearly died laughing.
Inability to use shared documents in Google or Microsoft. Or just being so out of touch with technology in general.
Like, did you really, seriously, this is actually happening to me, print out that email and walk it over to my desk? Not as a joke?
