When i scan the songs i listen to on apple music, it says "X amount of scrobbles submitted" but they don't show up to the page. But when I play the song again it does scrobble.

Also my last fm is https://www.last.fm/user/henrikkovalenko

Back in Feburary, my last.fm wasn't picking up "Faded Love" by Tinashe... I would listen however many times I wanted to and it would just never scrobble. I don't remember what I did to fix it, but I did, and now the same thing is happening to "Fall in Line" by Christina Aguilera. Anyone ever have a problem where one particular song refuses to scrobble?

Has anyone noticed an issue with scrobbling the first two tracks of an album using Apple Music? I’ve noticed it today after using the iOS Last.fm app and, later, playing through a Sonos speaker.

I know scrobbling has been flaky recently, but I thought this was quite strange.

so basically in apple music you have to scrobble manually. however when I do it it says "submitting "10 new scrobbles" but they don't show up. how to fix this problem

I'm in the process of moving to Plex for my music (woo flac everything!) but I'm having some problems getting proper scrobbles from it. Plex changes all your tags so they're: Artist feat. OtherArtist - Song rather than Last.fm's usual Artist - Song (feat. OtherArtist) so I end up scrobbling with bad artists. Is anyone else using Plex and scrobbling from Sonos? How are you working around this? Does scrobbling from Plex directly have a workaround for this? Ta!

www.last.fm##div[style="opacity:1 !important;all:initial !important;box-shadow:0 14px 28px rgba(0,0,0,0.25) !important;visibility:visible !important;z-index:2147483647 !important;-mox-box-shadow:0 14px 28px rgba(0,0,0,0.25) !important;-webkit-box-shadow:0 14px 28px rgba(0,0,0,0.25) !important;top:60px !important;transform:none !important;width:100% !important;position:fixed !important;display:block !important;left:0 !important;"]

Just throw that in your ad blocker's config and you should be good to go.

I see some people talk a bit about a new update happening soon regarding the scrobble database. But I don't quite understand what it will do and won't do in terms of scrobbling issues. Ex. Can you edit scrobbles?

Would be helpful if someone could it explain it thanks!

I can't see my scrobbled artists anywhere. Wtf is this? I used to Scrobble from fb2k, Spotify, even YouTube

While the Last.FM-Spotify connection may be flakey and has been frustrating to say the least, even when they are connected and working, offline scrobbling feels hit or miss to me. Sometimes it'll work like it should and all of my offline scrobbles will be updated when I come back online. But other times I'll lose all those scrobbles.

Does anyone know what the trick is to save offline scrobbles?

I can't wait for the day Spotify and Last FM finally connect without issues..

I personally joined because I was part of an internet forum back in the day (2007) and was part of the community and monthly judging each other's compatibility scores lol. And so I've been around, lol, but I recalling a dip in last.fm and classic forums usage amongst the internet sphere (at least from my perspective) around 2010-2012 and so sorta surprised to hear of new users especially now lmao.

Also feel free to check my compatibility and mock me with whatever score I have ;)

So I recently got mail from Ben, the lead developer of Last.fm regarding the Last.fm-Scrubbler-WPF (manual Scrobbler).

It seems that some of the recent site problems are actually caused by people using the Scrubbler to scrobble millions of scrobbles in a very short amount of time.

This has lead to the decision to put a scrobble cap in the Scrubbler. It will be 2.8k scrobbles per day. Obviously this makes some features less useful (Media Player Database Import, CSV scrobbling etc), but it is a necessary step.

Ben said, that it doesnt make sense to scrobble that many tracks because:

  • our recommendation engine currently stops tracking users with >1.2M scrobbles. After you exceed this limit, no new scrobbles will have any effect on your profile recommendation profile. Effectively, this means your profile is "full" until you delete scrobbles to bring it below this limit.

  • most users with >1M scrobbles have the scrobbles spread out over 10 years. You will not see any time time-based statistics if they are compressed into a period of a few days.

  • 1M scrobbles in a month period will lead to timeouts and slow performance viewing your pages. I can not guarantee that the user will even be able to see their own profile in future with 2M scrobbles compressed into 5 days.

The scrobble limit will be in place with the next version (1.17, which will be released in the next days). As I will disable the old api key old versions will not work anymore.

I didn't want to do it that way, but if this tool causes this many problems for last.fm it is better this way.

For all people reading this and using the Scrubbler: please do not scrobble huge amounts of tracks in a very short time!

** THE SCROBBLE PROBLEMS YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT MIGHT BE CAUSED BY THIS! **

Thanks

Last.fm development is slow. The website is in beta for almost three years now. I don’t mind, since I erased last.fm from my daily habits a long time ago, waiting for the return of the SOCIAL media aspect. Today, I was confronted with the anti-adblock banner (while no adblock was active) which made me think that something went terribly wrong along the way. After three years of waiting, the moment to say something about it has come.

I'm a last.fm user for almost a decade now (October 2008, often also a subscriber) and I had a wonderful time using it, not gonna lie. I met A LOT of people here, some of them even became my friends, and they still are to this day. Checking out profiles was great fun due to the users' creativity. You just wanted to scrobble and show off your taste. This is all in the past now.

When the update of August 2015 [?] rolled out, everything, along with many key features, went to shambles. The majority of us had most likely thought that these will be just temporary issues. If we’d only known better at that time. The update not only was rushed but also negatively impactful in terms of what last.fm was supposed to be.

Now it's just a dull database. A database logging what music you’ve listened to and when. There are scrobbles, sure enough, but there is nothing you can really do with them. Nobody cares about neighbor profiles anymore, because they're dull in the exact same way your own profile is; a meager profile picture connected to some band names. There is absolutely no room for creativity. 'About me' was a really strong feature of the 'old' last.fm, which allowed you to express yourself much more freely, perhaps in an unconventional and quirky way. BBCode support, embedded pictures - it made every profile unique. Unique to the owner and people who visited it. There was something compelling about discovering new people; the pertaining curiosity. We could even write our own journal! Ha, nobody even read it, but damn, yet another feature to express yourself, gone. Not to mention the groups (do I even want to?). Hell, what about basic features like age or even country?

Why would I follow more users if there is no connectivity with them? There is no longer even a way to check what your friends (people you follow) are listening to right now without visiting their profiles. And you won't do that anymore, either, because there is nothing that piques your interest like back in the days, when you spotted someone listening to something, and you felt the need to check it out. There are no logs of users activity, which makes it impossible to keep track of what they do. Does your friend happen to be in an interesting discussion about an artist you actually care about? Well, too bad, because you will never know. No connection whatsoever.

The events are back, which is fantastic, but how long did it take? I check the feedback section with update logs from time to time, and all I see is disappointment. Every few months (!) there is just a minor fix or a feature update. Mostly things that nobody cares about. No, nobody cares about colorful charts full of boring, corporate-like numbers that last.fm is trying to shove ahead of the features that we really need back. Perhaps last.fm is trying to only recommend music now? Hell, with all that scrobble history, it’s probably extremely capable to do that, but even then, why would we use it in lieu of Spotify, which is the new king of recommendations. Always in a simple way, always in the same application you listen to music - just a click away. Come to think of it, we’ve come to the point where creating a playlist on Spotify has more social aspects than the entirety of last.fm. Especially when you notice that you can actually keep track of what your friends are listening to now.

As for the good things, look 'n' feel was in dire need of a refresh for ages. But after all these years, we still have a non-customizable background picture which is still nothing but an artist’s forehead showcase. I’ve become very proficient in recognizing artists by their foreheads, I kid you not. Shoutbox improvements were also really welcome.

I hope it's not just me who misses the way last.fm used to be. And I hope it will get back to what we loved for years. As a sign of protest against current policy I suggest to turn on your adblock. If you ever get annoyed by the not-so-easy-to-remove anti-adblock banner, just add this to your filters: last.fm##div[style*="visibility:"]

I have been pretty anal about my scrobbles recently and this whole Spotify fiasco has been annoying. How long do you think it is until this problem is resolved? I have some music saved to my phone's music app that I have been listening to recently and that has been working fine.

Also: I am relatively new to LastFM. I joined in November of 2017 and have around 15,000 scrobbles. How often do these issues usually happen? It seems that this particular issue with Spotify has been happening twice the past month or so.

Once again, it's showing what music I'm playing on my page, but not tracking the scrobble itself

(: woooooooooooooo :)

my lastfm has been down for hours, but its not that there's an error showing my tracks, it just straight up tells me i have no scrobbles. no loved tracks or shouts either, but i can see the people im following and my followers, along with other users' compatibility. maybe im missing some stuff to mention, but it has been down for hours and its not coming back. its probably fine because i cant see what im scrobbling right now either even if nothing has changed in the way i scrobble and it should submit scrobbles in the moment, but im kind of panicking at this point

I don't know what is going on but on every device I'm signed into (And on different browsers) all my stats have dissapeared and nothing is showing up? saying "I haven't listened to any tracks yet" Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
