Like the Roman Republic under Caesar Augustus, the American Republic is rapidly sliding into a system of government that limits individual liberty, that limits influence of its citizens over policy, that produces ever greater separation between rich and poor, and pursues permanent war for the benefit of a tiny fraction of Americans. The separation of powers is eroding as the Unitary President rules by fiat. Some signs of this descent into tyranny are the:
de facto repeal of Constitutionally guaranteed rights
militarization of police forces
smothering of dissent
control of the Internet and the media by the government
Imperial power of life and death in the hands of the President
