Welcome to the recommendations megathread.
This thread exists as a place to ask for recommendations for a VPN that meets your particular needs, whether than be one with an exit node in a particular country, the cheapest VPN, a VPN that works with a specific service, et cetera.
We strongly recommend that you do take the time to do research and at least check the VPN Comparison Chart
NOTE: If you are making a suggestion of a VPN service, please give a good explanation as to why it would suit OP's needs, if you are just going to give a "use X" type response we will assume you are a shill and remove the post
Any posts asking for recommendations outside of this megathread will be deleted.
All top level comments in this thread need to be requests. Posts with unsolicited recommendations will be removed.

Okay, so I already know the basic answer, but want to know if anyone can provide more details.
If I am using my VPN, but a browser (Chrome that's signed into my google account to keep track of my passwords)
Does Chrome, signed into my account, plus a VPN, negate my VPN?
Hi! I am a high school student who is currently enrolled in AP Computer Science Principles. For our AP test we have to create something called an Explore Performance Task, where we research a certain computing innovation that we are interested in. I decided to focus on VPN. However, I've ran into a bit of a problem... We need 3 reliable sources, 2 of which must be from this academic year. I am looking to find a few sources that explain how VPN works in detail and maybe something about its greater impact or the process of a device getting a new IP address. I've found it really challenging to find what I think would be considered scholarly articles on any of these topics though. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for websites/articles/etc. please let me know!!!
I am going to be outside of the country in a couple of weeks but would love to catch Game of Thrones while on vacation.
Is there a recommended way to catch the latest episode while in another country?
I will have access to the internet at the time of being on vacation.
I have an HBO streaming service that connects via my IP, I imagine this will be irrelevant while away.
I'm just looking into VPN's and am sort of confused so I have a few questions.
Are they free? Are they legal? What exactly are they? How do they work? How do you go about setting one up?
I'm trying to watch a show that is on Netflix in another country. So I'm looking into VPN's
The Sri Lankan government is restricting access to Facebook, Whatsapp, and Youtube, among other sites, in the wake of the bombings. BoxPN worked for about 24 hours after the block went into effect, but now I can't connect to any international servers. Does anyone know which (if any) VPNs are still working?
Host: ASUS RT-N66U router running AdvancedTomato 3.5-140
Clients: Mix of Mac OSX (Tunnelblick) and Windows friends
Objective: Make a casual-use OpenVPN network for playing LAN games
Requirements:
Anyone on the network can be a game host. (Everyone must be able to see everyone.)
VPN is for game data traffic only. Clients to keep their normal public IP addresses and DNS config for WWW, Teamspeak, E-mail, or whatever.
Current Situation: Clients can connect to the VPN but cannot reach any internal test websites using direct IPs. (http://192.168.3.x/) For example, my personal WWW server or Emby media server. Notice that I have intentionally made my network 192.168.3.x to be different from the usual .0.x or .1.x most home internal networks use.
The options I have in the client .ovpn file are:
client
remote (my.ip.address.here)
