Launch of the Global Alliance of Regional Women Mediator Networks at UN Headquarters in New York

​The Global Alliance of Regional Women Mediator Networks was launched on 26 September. The launch was a side event at the High-Level Opening Week of the United Nations General Assembly 74 (UNGA 74). Over fifty women from four regional women mediator networks, as well as government and UN officials attended the launch. The PRIO GPS Centre and NOREF, as operational partners of NWM-Norway, played a central role in the organisation of the launch as well as a network day for the members of the four regional networks of women mediators. PRIO also had a key role in contributing to a promo film made and a webpage set up for the Global Alliance.

Kristian Skrede Gleditsch Nominated to be President of the International Studies Association

Kristian Skrede Gleditsch has been nominated to be President of the International Studies Association (ISA) for the period 2021–22.


Kristian obtained his BA at University of Oslo in 1993 and his PhD at University of Colorado in 1999. After teaching at the University of Glasgow (1999-2001) and the University of California San Diego (2001-2005), he joined University of Essex in 2005, where he is now Regius Professor of Political Science. He has won several prizes for his work, including ISA’s Karl Deutsch Award. His previous ISA service includes a term as Vice President and chairing the organization’s Academic Freedom Committee and Professional Rights and Responsibilities Committee.

Kristian Skrede Gleditsch has been associated with PRIO since 2003. He currently directs a PRIO project ‘Securing the victory? Understanding dynamics of short-run and long-term success in popular uprisings and democratization’ funded by the Research Council of Norway.

Open Position as EU Adviser, Development and Management of European Research Projects

​PRIO invites applications for a research administrative position with the joint responsibilities of project development and project management of research funded by the European Commission (Horizon 2020/ Horizon Europe, collaborative projects and the ERC). The successful candidate will join PRIO’s Project Development Team, assist project leaders, and play a key role in the management of PRIO’s largest current research project, MIGNEX, which creates new knowledge on migration, development and policy. Our EU Adviser is going on leave, and we are seeking her temporary replacement. The current vacancy is for a fixed term of one year, with possibility of extension.
