Each microsystem has its own domain knowledge, but there is a large overlap of data between services. In addition we need to create aggregate data that until now has been done in spark and is not accessible in real time to the application. This is the gap that Kafka Streams tries to fill. With the speed and reliability of kafka, confluent have added the next layer, that will bring us closer to a centralised data warehouse. With the ability to join streams from different topics (different services), and aggregate data in real time, the data from our central log is now accessible to all services.
