About meI live in England - but my Heart's in Scotland! I was lucky enough to have parents who encouraged me to read from an early age (back in the 60's!). I encouraged my own 3 children the same way with varying degrees of success (Consoles, Friends and 'Apple' usually won!). Now that My kids are older I find that I've got more time on my hands. The reading bug has stayed with me all of my life. I love all kinds of books and I am equally at home with a good Adventure Novel as I am with an Academic Book - and everything in-between. The text contained between the covers remains my primary interest, but I also appreciate the 'construction' of a book; and that recognition of the art & craft of bookmaking has led to a developing fascination with paper, typefaces, printing, illustration etc.... I joined LibraryThing partly as an antidote to the same old lists by the same old people about what is 'Classic, Good, Worthy', as I have found over my lifetime that the enjoyment of 'Art' is as much about yourself and your life - which can be a great distance from many, so-called, critics. I find many of the opinions and suggestions on this site far more interesting and worthwhile. My interests follow my 'tags'. Love reading/Love books!
