LASIK (laser in situ keratomileusis) is a surgical procedure that uses an excimer laser to reshape the cornea for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. The difference between PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) and LASIK, is in the preparation of the cornea. For PRK, the corneal tissue is gently wiped from the cornea. Before Lasik I was very nervous about having any surgeries. I did research for 2 years before scheduling my initial appointment.
