Professional Development
Professionals learn how to incorporate Kidpower skills and methodology into their standard practices in educational, health, and social service agencies in order to foster positive social safety skill development. Workshops are coordinated by individual schools/agencies, for their own staff at their own site, and are tailored to the specific contexts of the participants, ranging from teachers to shelter staff to occupational therapists to camp counselors to coaches.
In addition, Kidpower also sponsors two types of intensive training open to individual adult applicants:
- Kidpower’s Child Protection Advocates Training Institute offers a unique opportunity for adults to learn to use Kidpower’s prevention, advocacy, intervention, and personal safety strategies and skills to take charge of the safety and well-being of the children and teens in their personal and professional lives. Our 2016 Summer Institute in California this August has participants coming from around the world! Dates for Summer 2017 will be announced in January. Contact us to inquire about organizing a child safety leadership training for your organization, or members of your community!
- Kidpower Instructor Certification and Core Program Training (CPT) – We are currently accepting applications for our annual 6-day Kidpower Core Program Training: How to Use the Positive Practice Method to Teach People Safety Skills to Children and Their Adults — January 2017. This program is primarily for people who want to become certified as Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International instructors and also for people who want to audit the program to use in their personal and professional lives without becoming certified.
