Converting Heat Contained in Waste Water Effluents into Forms of Energy for On-site Use
The Seeker is looking to identify processes that can cost-effectively convert the heat contained in hot waste water effluents into forms of energy that can be used to power on-site operations.
This is an Ideation Challenge with a guaranteed award for at least one submitted solution.

Culture of Select Poultry Viruses in Immortalized Cell Substrates
Vaccinations are recommended for people of all ages as a means to prevent infectious diseases by helping the body’s defenses mount an immune response to known pathogens. Many vaccines are produced in chicken eggs with a manufacturing process that has been used for decades. Although high yields are reliably produced, this method is time consuming and expensive, requiring a large number of eggs. Therefore, the Seeker desires a novel approach for culturing viruses in immortalized cell substrates.
The Challenge has a special award structure. A solution proven to be viable for more than one virus will be eligible for multiple awards of $100,000 each.
This is a Reduction-to-Practice Challenge that requires written documentation, experimental proof-of-concept data, and sample delivery.

LIFT Prize 2017 – Innovation in Postsecondary Learning
Postsecondary learning is increasingly acknowledged as essential for realizing the American dream as more and more opportunities are geared toward highly skilled workers. To close the national talent gap, Lumina Foundation is working towards an equitable, accessible, responsive, and accountable higher education system to increase the proportion of Americans with high-quality degrees, certificates, and other credentials to 60 percent by 2025.
This Challenge requires organizations to submit a completed Application Form, outlining how their entity has a positive impact upon postsecondary attainment in the United States, or how they could transfer their current model to help reach Goal 2025. Entries will be narrowed down to three finalists, who will be invited to a live pitching event at the 1st Annual LIFT Conference from May 11-12, 2017 in Indianapolis, IN. Beyond the award, this prize competition offers an opportunity for visibility and networking with industry leaders.
This Challenge requires the submission of a completed Application Form.
ALERT: New deadline is 11:59 PM (US Eastern Time) on April 2, 2017.

Measuring the Spatial Distribution of Drug Concentrations in Target Tissues
The ability to determine the precise concentration and localization of a drug in target tissues is essential for preclinical research and development. Localization and concentration within the tissue are key parameters used to establish the appropriate dose required to provide adequate drug coverage. Current methods are only capable of determining the total drug concentration within a tissue sample. Therefore, the Seeker desires a new approach for measuring the spatial distribution of drug concentrations in target tissues.
This Theoretical Challenge requires only a written proposal.

Predictive Biomarkers for Psoriasis Treatment
Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory disease characterized by red, scaly, itchy patches of skin. Although there is currently no cure for psoriasis, patients are prescribed treatments aimed at managing the symptoms, namely regulating the immune system and/or reducing the rapid rate of skin cell proliferation. As new therapies are being developed, it would be helpful to have a method that would predict the effectiveness of these treatments in patients. Therefore, the Seeker desires a biomarker early in the course of therapy that is generalizable and predictive of efficacy later in the course of treatment.

Drug Delivery of Large Proteins Through the Urothelium
The bladder is an expandable muscular organ that stores urine before it is excreted. The urothelium lines the surface of the bladder and acts as a protective barrier limiting exposure to toxic substances collected in the urine. In some situations, it is advantageous to administer drugs locally to the bladder lumen. Furthermore, certain diseases of the bladder require delivery of drugs, including therapeutic proteins, to the bladder wall or underlying muscle. Therefore, the Seeker desires a novel technology that can significantly enhance the delivery of large therapeutic proteins through the urothelium.

Understanding the Biomechanical Properties of Facial Tissues
The Seeker is looking to identify partners that possess the necessary technical capabilities and expertise to characterize the biomechanical properties of facial tissues with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of how these tissues contribute to facial structure, expressive movement, and changes with age, leading to the development of next generation medical care.
This is an electronic Request-for-Partners (eRFP) Challenge; the Solver will only need to submit a written proposal to be evaluated by the Seeker with the goal of establishing a collaborative partnership.

RUSAL Challenge: Looking for Joint-Venture Partners for the Production of Goods
RUSAL wishes to leverage the potential of one of its aluminum smelting plants. Located in Nadvoitsy, this plant is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, qualified personnel, unique conditions for energy-intensive production, and is situated in a particularly favorable location classified as a priority area for economic development, therefore benefiting from various incentives to investment.
With that in mind, RUSAL is looking for a partner that can leverage this plant by partnering with RUSAL for the production of new goods, preferably aluminum based but not limited to them.
