Lucia Urns is a trusted maker of handmade ceramic cremation urns since 2005.

I love what I do... creating every day, as a full time potter... something I have been doing for over 25 years now.
For many years customers would ask me if I made urns... over and over I heard how dismal the choices were out there for warm, personal, artist made urns. So in 2005 I began making cremation urns in addition to my functional line of pottery. In 2009 I began to create my "Green" biodegradable urns. This shop features both high fired porcelain urns, and biodegradable urns made from a mixture of clay and paper.

I choose to make intentional, “slow pottery” using no molds, or decals. I believe that handmade work is important in our fast paced digital world. The marks on the clay, the glaze variations, the slight size differences from piece to piece are all reminders that it was made by hand. It connects you, the receiver of this work to me the maker.

My pottery studio is an old converted three story barn. As I work daily, I can hear the chickens clucking beneath me in the lower level of the barn where they live and work daily, producing eggs for our family. Also in the lower level of the barn is our attached greenhouse which provides greens for us, and heat for the chickens during our cold New England winter. The upper loft area of the barn is where I photograph my work, and store my boxes for shipping. I also store my stock of cremation urns, so I have them on hand for customers who may need them quickly.

Making urns is an honor for me, hopefully helping to bring some beauty to a very difficult time. If you need an urn for a loved one, I hope you will consider one of my handmade urns.

Also featured in this shop are sacred vessels for church services... chalice and paten sets, and other liturgical ware.
