09 June 2017 - The Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs, Ms Barbara Thomson, and the MEC for Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Seaparo Sekwati, will lead the joint celebration of World Environment Day and World Day to Combat Desertification event on Thursday 15 June 2017 in Jane Furse, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality.


08 June 2017 - The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA), in collaboration with the in collaboration with the KZN Wildlife and City of eThekwini Municipality hosted a successful biodiversity compliance awareness workshop in Durban today, Thursday 08 June 2017. The one day workshop brought together government authorities, muti-traders and traditional healers operating at the Durban Muti market.


07 June 2017 - As South Africa joins the rest of the world in commemorating World Oceans Day (WOD) tomorrow, Thursday, 8 June, Minister of Environmental Affairs, Dr Edna Molewa, told the Oceans Conference in New York, that South Africa has earmarked the ocean to promote economic growth and to boost job creation in line with the National Development Plan.


06 June 2017 - The Sustainable Development Goal 14 commits world leaders to "conserve and sustainably use oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development." The Conference theme is most relevant given the responsibility inherent to achieve this goal. There is high accelerated economic activity in and around oceans, increasing population moving towards the oceans, increasing consumption of marine resources, as well as a growing need for new resources, energy and minerals.
