Must have tool in the office

Vantagens:

It just works. No quirks, intuitive interface and simple to make the most of the software. I've been using it for years (and in another role use a different pdf tool as part of a corporate standard) and see the differences. PowerPDF is so much easier to use and increases productivity. Often, I move docs from one computer to another so I can use PowerPDF instead of the other.

Desvantagens:

It can be pricey for small office/SOLO's

Creating one file from both together: PDF files and JPG files

Finding recently opened files, e.g. from my downloads. Kofax does not have them in its list.

Edit PDF documents? Get this.

Comentários: This has been a great PDF viewer and editor. It has been the one I've used for multiple years and don't plan on using anything else.

Vantagens:

The ability to edit PDF documents and add typewriter type text. Having keyboard shortcuts. Security features that lock and protect PDF documents.

Desvantagens:

Some embedded fonts are not available when editing PDF documents. Highlights add a comment, would like a highlight only option.

Decent for the price but there are better options

Vantagens:

Kofax accomplishes what it sets out to do. It is very functional with a lot of features.

Desvantagens:

The interface is generally clunky, complicated, and lags. While it has tons of functionality, there is a sense that the entire application could use quite a bit more polishing. Everything works, but could be easier. It works for my users and is cheaper than the name brand, but my users beg me to go back to the name brand because of these issues. I also hate the licensing. When you buy, you only get the version available at that time with no promise of even security updates. You better save the installation package because you likely won't be able to download it again.

Excellent Less Expensive Alternative to Bigger Brands

Comentários: I have had a very positive overall experience with Kofax. I got the functionality I needed without paying at huge one time fee or a monthly subscription fee. I would definitely recommend it as an alternative to its big competitor.

Vantagens:

This software offers almost all of the same features as its major competitor at a fraction of the cost. There are no monthly subscriptions to deal with and there are frequently promotions for upgrades to the latest version if needed. It offers text editing, digital signatures, comments, pdf creation, combining documents into one PDF and much much more. It's a well rounded product with a great price.

Desvantagens:

The only thing that really stands out is that the customer service isn't the best I've ever received. Their online help system feels a little outdated and clunky so it's usually faster to just wade through it and figure it out yourself. On the plus side, it's fairly user friendly so that doesn't take a lot of doing.

Better than Adobe

Comentários: I'm a long-time user who depends on PDF for all my document management and form signing

I have found that Kofax Power PDF is extremely easy to use and less intrusive than other PDF editing programs.

I have not yet found anything I do not like.

Kofax cheaper alternative to Adobe Acrobat

Comentários: The experience is good, but I miss Adobe Acrobat Pro

Vantagens:

No annual subscriptions! No annual subscriptions! No annual subscriptions! I started with this software (version 3) because it came free with my Epson scanner Then I upgraded to the version 5. It does the job.

Desvantagens:

It is not the same as Adobe Acrobat. Adobe Acrobat is easier in several vital functions (like merging documents). Also, Kofax is slow to load when viewing only a document.

A very useful tool and does not require subscription to each feature individually

Comentários: I am very happy with Power PDF, it has met all my needs without getting a message that to do anything it will cost additional money as the default PDF reader does.

Vantagens:

Power PDF is easy to use, fill out documents, combine documents and everything else.

Desvantagens:

It could use some more drawing tools and the ability to highlight multiple items without selecting to highlight every time.

Nuance PowerPDF Pro Exceptional Product!

Comentários: I prefer this product to other PDF apps! The UI is super simple and intuitive, with applicable features, tabs, & buttons showing up as you use it, and structured on the screen where it’s easy to access them. Multiple ways to do one thing, the way users work...right click menu, keyboard shortcuts, use the icons on the tabs, drop down menus-relevant to the task you’re performing. Super easy drag and drop to rearrange your pages, rotate, delete as well. Advanced find and find/replace features with options galore to also do other tasks (like blackout to hide confidential words or phrases) all in the search panel. Advanced OCR technology, one of the best I’ve used, to convert text images to editable PDFs! I used stand alone OCR applications before that don’t hold a candle to the results created with Nuance PowerPDF Pro. It also easily integrates with the Firm’s DMS system, to pull documents from or save to the DMS or natively on the PC or network drive. I give it top notch rating for making most functions available from various methods, so users can work the way they prefer (keyboard, right click menu, ribbon tab buttons, and panels that open relevant to what I was doing at the time). The annotation functions work exceptionally well also, although with the version I use, Note and Comment were not consistently named if you used a right click vs the pop up menu when you select text, and it confused the users a bit. Hopefully this has been resolved in the latest version.

Vantagens:

Cost: Significant savings over Acrobat Pro when considered enterprise wide. Functionality: All the bells and whistles of Acrobat Pro including document compression, redaction, compare, etc. We didn't find any functional deficiencies in Nuance Power PDF Advanced. Ease of use: Because of cost savings, we were able to roll this product out to many more users. Most of them were using the product with little or no training. Efficiency gains: since more staff we able to manage their own document maintenance, the bottle neck of fewer people performing document maintenance was removed. Advanced Technology: Some our older systems store PDF documents as OLE that cannot be opened by Acrobat outside of the source application. Nuance was able to ignore the OLE wrapper and present the PDF. If would be nice of Nuance had a batch process to convert these OLE PDFs so we could convert them en mass.

Desvantagens:

It wasn't a complete replacement for Adobe. Some applications were specifically looking for Adobe to open PDFs and we could not find a reliable way to redirect the Adobe call to Nuance. In those situations, Adobe reader had to be installed on the desktop. But Nuance could also be installed for document manipulation.

Lousy software that our company switched to for cost savings

Comentários: See above. It crashes a lot which wastes my time.

I don't like Kofax. It's fine as a reader, but for anything else I definitely prefer other applications.

Desvantagens:

I don't like Kofax at all. It crashes all the time which wastes so much of my time. When we first got it in 2001 it crashed so much that it was totally unusable and really messed up our work flow. Our IT team spent a lot of time (like weeks) trying to get it to work. One of the people on our team spent her own money to just buy Adobe Acrobat so she wouldn't have the headache of dealing with Kofax. Kofax functions now, but it still crashes a lot during edits. The adding pages feature really sucks and I have to do the steps very specifically or else it crashes, and I save after each step when adding pages and redoing the page numbers to avoid loosing the work I've already done. Weird things also happen if you remove a page and try to renumber. The page numbering function needs a lot of improvement.

Great PDF Software

Comentários: Sorting through old equipment files which can sometimes be 300+ files in one while using the document assembly and split features made that process much easier!

Vantagens:

The document assembly feature and split features are very helpful if you are dealing with multiple documents often. The editing features are fairly simple to use and the secured signature features are wonderful.

Desvantagens:

I frequently use the "Text Box" option for editing or making notes on PDFs, I really wish there was the option of selecting "no color" for the comment box borders. Sometimes when trying to copy and paste a comment box onto another open PDF, the box randomly pastes vertically and I have not found a way to rotate the box itself which can be frustrating.

Why Kofax is a valuable PDF choice

Comentários: It is a valuable software in my arsenal that is mostly easy to use and effective.

Vantagens:

The conversion is very integrated and seemingly automatic

Desvantagens:

Text Editing can be somewhat difficult, identifying which menu that appears to be change at times

PDF Reader/Editor alternative

Comentários: I have used Power PDF since version 2 (maybe even version 1) and have seen many improvements from then until now (version 5). I really like its versatility, ease of use and user friendliness. I use Power PDF to create fillable forms for both my company and the service organisations I belong to, so it is quite a valuable tool in that respect. In my opinion Power PDF is price about right and has all of the features I need and more.

Vantagens:

I really like the ability to add my information into forms as well as being able to create my own forms. I have used Power PDF since version 2 and have gotten to know many of the featured in the app. The ones I know and use the most are the Compile and Create and the commenting. Making one PDF out of many and being able to sort them is important to me.

Desvantagens:

The commenting tools can be a little cumbersome and I think it would be an improvement to have a floating toolbar to be able to click on textboxes etc. This is a small thing and easy to work around.

Awesome PDF program

Comentários: Combine Documents, Optimizing the size of the documents, typing notes right on the pdf, removing information from the document, especially happy with being able to convert a pdf into word or excel. HUGE time saver.

Vantagens:

I like everything about this program! The ability to convert a pdf into word, excel, to edit documents, move pages around, remove pages, delete info from the pdf, ability to combine separate PDFs into one PDF

Desvantagens:

I can find nothing I don't like about this product.

Kofax Power PDF review

Vantagens:

I like how easy it is to combine multiple files across different file types, as well as easily reduce the file size for ease of sharing

Desvantagens:

I feel like the text editing functions could be improved, especially the ability to highlight text continuously

Terrible Customer Service

Vantagens:

Long term customer of Nuance (Dragon) and Kofax (Power PDF) due to exceptional functionality and performance.

Desvantagens:

Software is fine. The customer service - or should I say lack thereof - is atrocious. My team made the mistake of purchasing two licenses for download (rather than purchasing the discs) during the COVID-19 pandemic while our team was working remotely. The licenses were designed for use on our office PCs and were not downloaded right away due to our team working remotely. Unbeknownst to me, the licenses were only available for download two weeks. After that, the link expires and you cannot download the software. I attempted to go through Kofax for a resolution to no avail. We now have two perpetual licenses that we can’t use and we're out $358. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

EXCEPTIONAL! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Vantagens:

I highly recommend Nuance PDF. After using the competitors software for years, I looked for a less expensive alternate that didn't charge monthly software fees. Nuance PDF allows me to create PDFs from various software products such as excel, word, publisher and the like. Easy download and integration with existing business processes. Very user friendly, easy one step PDF creation and has 600 resolution needed for printing professional marketing pieces. Outstanding!!!

Desvantagens:

The only feature I miss from the competitor is creating the PDF into a black copy before going to print. However our printers will print black ink only from a color PDF so we don't miss this feature as much as I originally thought we would and with the high 600 resolution, they produce a very professional print.

Nuance Use

Comentários: I have been using Nuance for over 3 years now. I have liked there software and have always received great customer service.

Vantagens:

Nuance is very user friendly and simple to navigate for first time users.

Desvantagens:

It seems to crash often when working with larger files.

Better that the original

Comentários: Its an easier product to use that Adobe and they aren't trying to Nickle and dime me to use the most popular features

Vantagens:

Product is very easy to use and much better price compared to the Adobe

Desvantagens:

There are no problems I have encountered
