Cambridge Beer Festival
The Cambridge Beer Festival was first held in 1974. This festival is the branch's largest and its main beer festival. During its long run, the festival has had several homes but since 2001 has been held on Jesus Green in late May. It is the longest running CAMRA beer festival and currently one of the largest regional beer festivals in the United Kingdom. The festival features a wide range of local and national beers of all styles, as well as cider, perry, mead, wine and bottled & draught beers from around the world. The festival is also famous for its CAMRA Cheese Counter, where a very wide range of fine cheeses, together with locally produced bread, pork pies, ham and other savoury items are available.
Cambridge Winter Ale Festival
After a brief outing in 1986, the winter ale festival started it's current run in 1997. This festival is the branch's second largest beer festival, generally held in late January at the University Social Club, Mill Lane. The festival features a range of local and national beers, with an emphasis on traditional winter beers, plus locally produced ciders and a selection of bottled beers from around the world.
Cambridge Octoberfest
The branch's smallest beer festival is the Cambridge Octoberfest. This has been held in October every year since 2007 at the University Social Club, Mill Lane. The festival emphasis is on German beers and aims to have all the Munich Oktoberfest beers available. Local brewers provide both traditional English and European style beers, plus some locally produced Ciders.
Volunteering
All the festivals are organised and run by unpaid volunteers. We are always looking for volunteers, old and new, to join us. As a volunteer you get cheap beer and free food. If you'd like to help out, whether just for a few hours one evening or throughout a Festival, you will be made most welcome. Don't worry about needing experience, as training will be given and we have a wide range of jobs available. You can volunteer for the upcoming festivals on line. We look forward to welcoming you as a volunteer.
