AFL Legends Game

The AFL, with the support of its broadcast partners the Seven Network, Foxtel/Fox Footy and Telstra will partner with the EJ Whitten Foundation to host the annual TradingPost.com EJ Whitten Legends Game Supporting Prostate Cancer for Men’s Health. The annual match will be played at Etihad Stadium during the week's break between round 23 and the finals series.

The highly popular Legends Game brings together a selection of football greats and media personalities to play under the banners of Victoria and the All-Stars. The event builds on the traditional interstate rivalry matches between Victoria and the South Australian ‘Croweaters’, which Mr Football (EJ) played in, loved and created such brilliant contests within. The annual match started back in 1995 at the Whitten Oval, before outgrowing this venue and moving to its home at Etihad Stadium, where it has been since 2003. Victoria leads the win-loss ledger at 10 – 9, with one draw.

Net proceeds will be distributed to the EJ Whitten Foundation and the AFL’s charity partners.  The foundation honours the legacy of EJ Whitten, who died after a long and public battle with prostate cancer.  Since its inception in 1995, the EJ Whitten Foundation has raised more than $9.5m for prostate cancer research and awareness.
