Australian Story is produced by the ABC's News division with staff working from offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Programs are related in a documentary style, without reporter narration.

During the program's 20-year history, its filmmaking approach and many unforgettable episodes have proved highly popular with viewers.

Australian Story has won many professional accolades including Walkley and Logie awards.

Our Brief

Australian Story seeks out unique stories that feature fascinating characters and original storylines with unexpected 'twists and turns' and compelling visuals.

Some of its subjects may already have public profiles and some are unknown to the broader public. What matters most is that the content matter is both fresh and engaging and that the themes hold universal appeal, ideally providing insight into life's big dilemmas, challenges, current issues and the human condition.
