The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is the nation’s leading voice promoting equity and education for women and girls. Since our founding in 1881, AAUW members have examined and taken positions on the fundamental issues of the day — educational, social, economic, and political.
What started with 17 like-minded women has grown into a powerful network that has influenced — and at times shaped — the debate over equity in education.
Women working full time in the United States typically are paid just 79 percent of what white men are paid, a gap of 21 percent — and it’s even worse for women of color. Through AAUW Start Smart and AAUW Work Smart, we are fighting to close the pay gap, one workshop at a time.
We are all the faces of pay equity; we all have a story about the pay gap. AAUW is lifting up those stories and leading the fight to end the wage gap once and for all.
