@arungupta maybe suspend/resume workers when the database connection fails? Don't know if that is feasible though. -

@arungupta Actually I just thought about it, I don't know any framework that deals with database fails, I'd have to build one myself...

@arungupta here an alarm will tell DB is down, EC2 will not start, auto healing will kick in and all hands on deck. NO DB, no microservice -
@rasensio makes sense. so is it mostly catching the exception? No fallback? -
@arungupta depending the severity that is for that app not having a db avail. is bad ? does not makes sense start, not that bad ? histrix it

@arungupta e.g. Jboss conf uses MySQLValidationChecker for MySQL. Other vendors should have something similar. -

@arungupta we did it using bonecp with lazy unit and also using callbacks to report on our /health endpoint. DB could go up&down just fine -

@arungupta Read-only, cache data, OK until restart. Read/write, upd cache backed by file, async upd to DB. PS:only if dataset is small. -
@arungupta would you? if the application uses data then you dont have an application without the data. Its better just to fail and try again
