    I am so proud of the many great journalists I hired in more than a decade as EIC of But surely was in a category of his own. His tenacity, smarts, grace and commitment were unparalleled. L'hitraot, my friend.

    After many productive years, today is my last day on staff at the Forward. I'm grateful to my colleagues, both past and present, from whom I've learned so much. Strength to the journalists doing good work in Jewish media, and strength to the publications letting them do it.
