Burrrr....

I have been told over and over again this last week that Arizonians have never experienced a January this cold!  As i sat in a hot tub in Tucson snow flakes were drifting down.  Our camper is cozy but I can't wait till I can open the door and leave it open!  I have been stitch away but started to have a bit of anxiety that I might run out of projects if I kept up at this pace!

I am looking forward to warmer weather and for the government to be back to work...so many places we want to hike are closed or rather the bathrooms are locked :(  so we hang around here enjoying our cozy spot.

I was shocked to see that there is a huge sewing room when we are staying!  Which is great because I forgot to bring my favorite iron!!!  Today I am heading over to the Sewing Room and use their iron and board!

Have a wonderful first week of 2019...I am on count down to my class with Sue Spargo!  Can't wait to share the adventure at Tanque Verde with you!

Starting The Journey 2019

Word of the Year

Before we get on to discussing our Word of the Year I want to thank you for all your kind support in reading the Woolie blog and those who cheer us on in our Quilt Roadies travels.  I feel like I have a wonderful group of friends cheering us along and when I get homesick I only have to turn here to know I have stitchers right here with me.  Happy New Year!

Have you chosen???  My word kept showing up in my life during the last half of 2018.  And, when I saw this TED talk that took place in my own "hometown" of Portland I was humbled.  I try to live my life without all the wants, wants, wants... but, after all I have grown up in the land of plenty and we are the land of "want".  Because of "work your fingers to the bone" parents I learned, worked and created a comfortable life and want is a verb that was a normal part of life.  But, let me tell you falling on the streets of Portland and sitting down there with others where the want consisted of a dry place with food was humbling.  And so, my word for 2019 is ENOUGH.

Give Me Your Word!

I am a great believer is choosing a Word of the Year.  It is like a touch stone when life seems to be out of control or emotional cruel.  Yes, life can be cruel and suck the air right out of a room but then I touch my word and bring it into focus, somehow I can feel my soul reach for peace.  In 2017 my word was Detox and it was a year I really took to leaving negative thoughts and people behind and focusing on those that bring joy into the world.  Then 2018...brought the word Mindfulness into my life.  Boy, did that word serve me well.  Anytime I felt out of control whether it be in my schedule or my life I embraced Mindfulness and realized I am choosing this life and I want to enjoy it in all of it's craziness.

I have been thinking long and hard about my word for 2019.  I know for a fact that 2019 will be an epic stitching year filled with sharing and friendships!!!  LOL...I think I say that every year and you know what...it is!!!  I never rush into picking my word...I ponder, wish, read and embrace...knowing the word will come to me and boy has it ever!!!

So, stay tuned for the blog post on New Years Day where I will reveal my word for 2019 and I hope you will have chosen a word also!

My Heart is Full

What can I say...my heart is full and it has everything to do with my son's and their families.  For me there is nothing like spending time with little ones to make me realize how amazing life can be and that through them one does live forever :)

I was happy to have finished the binding on the
Christmas quilts....

For my oldest grandson I made a Mindcraft Quilt, LOL And yes...they do make Mindcraft fabric but you have to find it online.

...and for my oldest son and Laura I made a bed quilt in the colors that she liked...yellow and gray.  It was fun gathering the fabrics because it is not a palate that I have a lot in my stash.  I started with a pattern but then ended up mixing it up...so there is not a specific pattern for either of these quilts.

Connor's Fairy Godmother and she is also his son's Great Fairy Godmother stitched a beautiful Santa table runner as a birthday gift for Emily...it is beautiful!

But, I really have to show you this amazing piece of art drawn by my older son...he attended the Seattle Art Institute but I can testify that he was artistic from birth...now he works at saving lives but I am so happy to say he is embracing the artist within.

This piece is amazing because it is drawn on a black base...the color is drawn on top??? blows my mind...kind of like a negative.  It is going to have a special place in the Bee Hive!

I won't bore you with all the gifts of life but let me say I take nothing for granted and am grateful for the blessings :)  Thank you for your reader support and I am looking forward to many adventures down the road...including some cooking with the new cookbooks I got!!!
