Stop blaming robots. The reason we've lost so many jobs is because of offshoring, which strips the economy of additional output, while productivity continues to grow.
If output grew as fast as productivity, there'd be no problem.

Britain was highly protectionist before & during the industrial revolution, where the economy grew by 10% a year for 50 years. Technology grows the economy, not free trade. Protectionism retains & encourage domestic technological growth, ergo grows the economy. Simple.
