Generation X-Factor
A legacy of the previous government’s skewed values and the complete lack of ethics by the liberal broadcast media.
Sadly, it will take decades to undo the damage.
Minority Report(er)
One of the trigger points for putting much effort into this blog several years ago was my observation and first hand experience that the authorities were using entrapment to carry out (so called) ‘law and order’. I won’t detail these events now, but it looks like the media are now engaging in such practices too – all for the same reasons as the authorities – profit.
The manner in which an innocent (possibly true?) remark by a recently resigned official of the Football Association was enticed out of him during a private conversation is out of order. And it is great to see that others feel the same way.

Anyone going to defend this woman?
Take a read, and you’ll understand why the author of this blog hates what the awful liberals* have done to this country. It is going to take decades to undo the damage, if that is at all possible. Are readers aware that a decade ago, 40% of the UK wanted to emigrate. A few years later, this figure rose to 60% – today, (awaiting confirmation, it is closer to 80%). Thing is, are Dave and Nick going to help reduce that figure? Or has compromise ruined the show?
*Except pragmatic environmentalists.

Update 20 May 2010: Yes! Justice and common sense prevails. You see, democracy works. You voted and the right thing happened.
Spot on Steve!
If there is ever a quote that echoes my opinion of those whose lack of self esteem leads them to belitle others, this one sums it up nicely:
“By the way, what have you done that’s so great? Do you create anything, or just criticize others work and belittle their motivations?”
– Steve Jobs
Those of you who are go getters and comfortable in your existence will understand precisely what we mean and can hopefully seek solace in knowing you’re not alone. May the force be you!
Fight back club: Ignore losers, and remember, (as per one of my first ever tweets), if you believe, you achieve.
Blue & Yellow – A New Hope
Full analysis and comments in a forthcoming post to be entitled “Dear Dave”. I had planned to write ‘Dear Dave’ before the election and distribute it in print to about 10,000 homes, but didn’t get time. However, with the positive outcome, my letter was not really required.
Either way, what happened yesterday was fantastic news for so many reasons, and the way it all ended was dignified and offers a new hope for the country, in particular for those who do not consider themselves victims of their own malpractice.
Dumb Britain, pure and simple
The issue here (also covered here) is not just the question itself, but the use of English within the question. An organisation with billions of pounds of tax payer funding that exists to save our lives resorts to using terms like ‘cool’?
Both the problems with this survey summarise just about everything that is wrong with the UK at present. Those of you who have also stood stunned on the sidelines for far too long now will know what I am getting at.
I have not commented on the election result because for all the hoopla, it is simply a reflection of the contemporary demographic makeup of the country and not something to be condemned – even if frustrating to all parties, no pun intended! I do not know enough about PR to comment, but at this point, it appears to be being used as a lever to influence the public. Not sure that is fair itself really – the matter could have been bought up way before the election, not during a power struggle.
Eureka!Box: Internal cat door
Pet lovers, how many times a day do you have to get up to let the cat out of your living, bed or other room?
Cat doors are often fitted to doors that open to the great outdoors, but not to internal doors.
Funny the way some inventions only take a great idea so far.
Fight back club: Go invent one, but make it quiet and aesthetically purrleasing. 😉
When did you first have…
…music?
😛
Amongst all the uncertainty in the world today, what better way to escape than by firing up Spotify or iTunes and chilling to some Robyn Hitchcock. (Give Luckiness, The Afterlight & Hurry For The Sky a whirl.)
So, when and where did you first ever become conscious of and enjoy music? What or who did you listen too?
And was it gooood for you too then? The first time can be something else! 😉
For me, it was The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Herb Albert and Nana Mouskouri on my parents Pye ‘Stereo’ all in one turntable, sometime in the early 1970s. And then, from 1976, listened to John Peel on the radio and discovered all those ‘new’ acts that became famous later on. (Bowie, Stiff Little Fingers, etc.)

Introducing THE FIREDOME… …Circa 1991
Re this, see this…

From a proposal my employer put together in 1991 outlining a possible way to extinguish oil well head fires in Kuwait. Eventually, explosives were used by a well known American firm. The HyperCard simulation version of the proposal allowed various weights and pressures to be input to help calculate the ideal weight of the dome. In reality, (as per what BP are doing now in the Gulf of Mexico), such a dome would need to be a lot larger than the one envisaged above to cope with the immense pressure.
Either way, with regards to the current disaster, let’s hope that oil’s well that ends well…
