• Roger D. Peng’s research focuses on statistical methods for environmental health problems. He is also a co-founder of the Johns Hopkins Data Science Specialization, the Simply Statistics blog, the Not So Standard Deviations podcast with Hilary Parker, and The Effort Report podcast with Elizabeth Matsui, and recipient of the 2016 Mortimer Spiegelman Award from the American Public Health Association.

• Bill Venables is an Honorary Research Fellow with CSIRO Data 61, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Queensland. He was formerly a Senior Research Scientist with CSIRO and prior to that a Senior Lecturer at the University of Adelaide. In his current roles, his responsibilities are research collaboration and mentoring of younger scientists, as well as limited educational contributions in the form of R workshops.

• Steph is the data scientist behind Rex Analytics. She earned a Ph.D. in theoretical econometrics from the University of Sydney. After graduating, she worked for the World Bank for four years, where she got a crash course in real data. She survived the experience and is now a data scientist providing insights for companies and organisations across Australia.

• Thomas is a former Bioinformatician turned Data Scientist, with a focus on data visualisation and development of tools to improve data exploration. In his current role with the Danish tax agency, SKAT, he helps develop the R based infrastructure for model deployment.

• Jenny is a recovering biostatistician who takes special delight in eliminating the small agonies of data analysis, and developing tools and mental models for a productive, alpha-to-omega workflow. She is an Ordinary Member of the R Foundation, a developer for RStudio, Associate Professor of Statistics, UBC (on leave), and serves in the leadership of rOpenSci and Forwards.

• Heike Hofmann is a Fellow of the American Statistics Association and Professor in Statistics at Iowa State University. Her research interests center around data visualization, data exploration, learning from data and statistical computing. She has been involved in the programming of several interactive graphics platforms: MANET, ggobi, and cranvas, and is the author of several R packages.
