Welcome to Underground Crafter!
My name is Marie Segares, and I’m the Proprietress of the Underground Crafter. I’m a crochet and knitting blogger, designer, and teacher. I learned to crochet from my maternal grandmother in 1984, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I conquered my fear of knitting in 2010, and now I’m happily bi-craftual.
You can find free crochet patterns, crochet tips, crochet and knitting book and product reviews, interviews with needlearts industry pros, and more on my blog! I’ve just started adding free knitting patterns and recipes, too!

I won the Crochet Concupiscence 2014 Awesome Blog Award for Best Crochet Blog Series for my Hispanic Heritage Month interview series, where I interviewed 14 crochet and knitting bloggers, designers, and makers. (You can also find roundups of my 2013 and 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month interviews.)

I missed your video for the Celebrate I Love Yarn Day of the ‘Pumpkin Lace Scarf’. Work before play. I was actually on the freeway to a business meeting.
Will this video for this ‘Pumpkin Lace Scarf’ be posted later?
Diana
Thanks for stopping by, Diana. We didn’t record the Hangout, but you can find the link my tutorial for the Pumpkin Lace Scarf on YouTube, as well as links to everything discussed during the Hangout, in my comments on the event page here: https://plus.google.com/events/ckfgq49u13asa6avv1no4onk654
Thanks so much Marie for your patterns.
Looking forward to the crochet along.
Be blessed
Sharon xx
Great, Sharon! I look forward to seeing what you make.
Marie,
I was wondering if you can teach me to crochet. I live close to Montclair, NJ and am very interested in learning now rather than waiting for the Montclair Adult School’s Spring semester.
Please let me know if you are interested and if so how much do you charge.
Thanks-a-Bunch!
Mary
Hi Mary: Thanks for writing. I’ll send you an email with more information.
I can’t find where to sign up for your newsletter or to receive your blog posts, help?
Thanks for writing, Stephanie! You can sign up for my newsletter on the Contact page :).
Do you have a link to subscribe via email? I have found that using a reader or going to blogs every day to see if there’s a new post doesn’t work very well and I really enjoy all of your posts. Thank you.
Thanks for writing, Amy! I just added a form to subscribe by email. You can find it at the top of each page.
Thank you for making your craft knowledge available to us crafters! I crochet ( 40+ years) and knit (5+ years). My daughter and son are my inspiration and encouragement to advance my skills. I am toying with the idea of designing and selling my items. I am looking forward to viewing your podcast as a resource!
Thanks for stopping by, Robinphc! You can find all my past podcast episodes at http://creativeyarnentrepreneur.com. You can also find the Creative Yarn Entrepreneur on iTunes, Stitcher, and TuneIn.

Marion, thanks for stopping by. At this time, I don’t have a video for Tadley’s Diagonal Blanket, but I recently launched a YouTube channel and may share one there in the future. Let me know if you have specific questions I can help with.
I’m having difficulty getting started on the Tadley’s blanket. Can you help me?
Janet, thanks for writing. Can you be more specific about what your challenge is so I can try to help? Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by, Liz, and I agree, there is always more to learn in crochet, no matter how much you know.
I just read your Yarn Organization article in Happily hooked Magazine and loved it! Thank you for the awesome tips about taking photos of the yarn. I am now your newest fan :o)
Welcome, Karen, and thanks for your kind words! Dealing with yarn stash can be a huge challenge, so every little bit helps.
