    I never said nationalism was better! There are also plenty of real and impressive achievements. But liberals and technocrats who claim "everything is amazing" (Pinker), and belittle the suffering of those who feel their lives are getting worse, are stoking resentment. That's all.

    Distributional concerns matter - A LOT. But, then again, global income inequality has been declining for 40-50 years, because average incomes of poor countries have been converging to those of rich countries. Why would nationalism be a better take on this than cosmopolitanism?
