I recorded my heart rate and sleep in the days preceding, during and after my PhD defence, using a activity tracker, to see how much it would affect my physiology. Turns out, a lot!

Also, if anyone else who's more knowledgeable in heart rate physiology has any idea of what else might be fun to look at in the data, I'm all ears! CC

Imagine a circle, with a little spinner on it that you can flick. The circle is 80% red and 20% yellow, like a yellow pie slice. You flick the spinner. It spins, and slowwwly stops. Where did it land?

While you're here: I don't have a soundcloud, but I do have a preprint 👨‍🔬. I spend a long time talking about reliability, what it means, and how to use it (better) for planning studies over here:

Spent way longer than I should have making this gif for my thesis defence presentation, demonstrating measurement error and reliability. But if it's helpful for any tweeps out there, then I can at least pretend I was being effective 😅 (error bars represent 95% CIs btw)

My thesis is now nailed as per Swedish tradition: it's now officially out in the world! And the defence follows in 3 weeks today. No stopping this process now!

There should be a word for those friends whom you love and admire and think of often but never contact, for unexplainable and inadequate reasons, and who probably believe you indifferent, when the truth is far more tragic and mundane.

Excited to share my blog post about how I used and googlesheets to make a reminder bot 🤖 to automate away the boring parts of organising our (journal club) meetings. This has been a lifesaver for me, so I hope it's helpful for others too!

Tip for referees of resubmissions: will compare text across 2 pdfs. It even highlighted changes in table notes. Super useful! Note: this is a screenshot comparing one of MY papers before and after a revision, NOT the paper I'm reviewing today.

replications in psychology should be reserved for cases where studies have high informational value. there are relatively few such studies. we should focus on producing better studies in the first place, not on rushing to sort studies with low information value into two heaps.
